True Admissions: College Essays by Berkeley High Students.

Books will be on sale in the courtyard on Monday, June 12th during
lunch.

This book, a collection of 55 college essays, is a salute to our
students and, we believe, will be an inspiration to its readers.

About the book:
Bob Laird, former director of undergraduate admission, UC Berkeley
and author of The Case for Affirmative Action in University
Admissions, writes, "These essays encompass the richness of cultures,
achievements, experiences, and points of view within a remarkable
urban high school, and they demonstrate emphatically that there are
many different ways to write a smashingly effective college
application essay. More than that, the vibrancy of this collection
reflects the extraordinary resurrection of Berkeley High."

The book is on sale now in the College Center (lunch time only) and
will also be available at BHS graduation. The book costs $10 at
school sales. All proceeds will go to the Berkeley High Development
Group to support the College and Career Center.

Cash or checks only. Checks can be made out to:
Berkeley High School Development Group (BHSDG) with True Admissions
on the memo line.

If your essay (or your child's essay) is included in the collection,
you may pick up a complementary copy from Ms. Abrams in the College
Center. Contributors who do not come by the center will receive their
copy in the mail during the summer.
