4. The next Berkeley High School Site Council meeting will be Tuesday,
June 13, 4:30-6:00 pm in D218 of the Admin Building. The main
agenda items are: 10th grade counseling (SB813), site plan subcommittee
report, School Governance Council Proposal.
5. Attention all 11th graders taking AP Language and Composition next
year: The summer reading booklet is here! Please go by C221, C213, or
C207 to get your copy. Every student taking this class must get this
reader before school year ends.
6. Save the date! Greeting BHS Coordinated School Health Program will
have its last meeting of the school year, Wednesday, June 14th at 3:30
pm in Conference Room B. Light refreshments will be served. See
you there!
7. Attention students and staff: Please check lost and found in D224
if you lost items this school year. All items or clothing will be given
to the BHS Health Center or a local shelter.
8. Students if you have an elevator key, please return to Mrs. Ruby
Taylor
by June 15th.
9. WorkUSAmerica, a non-profit organization located in Oakland, is
now accepting casting calls for students to be in our Educational
Infomercial for a Deaf Cinema Showcase Contest at Berkeley Community

10. Landscaping job: Pays $10 a hour. Contact Richard Colton for more

Clubs
1. Got Something interesting to say? The award-winning Berkeley High
Jacket is looking for columnists for the 2006-2007 school year. Any and
all interested students should pick up an application in H102 or send an
email to <news at jacket.org>.
2. Calling all actors: If you want to go to the world’s largest theatre
festival in Edinburgh, Scotland with the drama club. See Mr. Winer
immediately for an application final cast will be chosen by June 16th.
3. DEBATE CLUB meeting in D219 on Thursday, June 8, at lunch.
Come meet our new coach, national award-winning debater Beth Schuler,
learn about the three speech competitions which award full college
scholarships, and discuss the 2006-2007 debate topic: Should the United
States government require mandatory public service. Mandatory public
service covers what we used to call the draft a hot topic.
4. Last Earphone English meeting of the year on Wednesday at lunch in
C116.
Please return all AUDIOBOOKS that you have borrowed and come say good
bye.

Sports
1. All Waterpolo players: There will be a short informational meeting
for
those returning and all interested athletes regarding the 2006 Waterpolo
program. Please attend to pick up paperwork and find out about next
year's
team. This meeting is at lunchtime, not after school
2. Attention all Berkeley High Athletes: Pick up athletic packets for
the
2006-07 athletic seasons either in the Athletic Office or the
Administration
Office. Between now and the end of June is an ideal time to line up a
free physical at the BHS Health Center. After July 1, they may or may
not
be able to accommodate you. Get your athletic packet taken completed
this
summer and you’ll be ready to participate in all sports for next year.
3. Girls Field Hockey begins Aug.21st. All interested players should
come
to a meeting on Thursday, 6/8 in the Donahue Gym at lunch.
4. Fall sport tryouts (Boys and Girls Cross-country, Girls Volleyball,
Girls Tennis, Girls golf, Boys and Girls Waterpolo, and Football) begin
before the start of the school year! The official start date for
Football
is Monday, August 14. All other sports start on Monday, August 21. You
may miss out on your opportunity to go out for a fall sport if you are
not
prepared for tryouts or if you do not communicate with the coach. Pick
up
a Fall sport information sheet and a academic packet from the athletics
office or the administrative office.
5. Athletes from all seasons who owe uniforms or equipment appear on an
Athletic Debt list posted on the Athletic Office Door: If your name
appears on the list, it
is your responsibility to clear your debt ASAP. You either need to pay
for or turn in your equipment to the Athletic Department at lunch or
after
school. Consequences include receiving an F for Athletics. Seniors
will
not be allowed to pick up diploma and you will not be declared
ineligible
to compete until your debt .
Senior / Junior Section
1. Seniors- All seniors participating in the Senior Awards ceremony.
You
must come to rehearsal on Wednesday, June 7th at 4th period (1:03 pm) in
the community theater. See ya there!
2. Juniors- the UC pamphlet, Introducing the University, has arrived.
Pick yours up in the College Center to get information on each UC
campus,
including admissions, majors, financial aid and important contact
information.
Events/ Performance
1. Chamber Music Concert on Thursday, June 8th, 7:30 pm in the Little
Theater. FREE! It’s not “just” Haydn! This concert has it all! Folk
music, jazz violin, BHS composers, Tangos! Be there to get your mood
set
for finals.
2. BHS Jazz Concert, 7:00 pm at the Little Theatre on June 9th.
Admission
for adults is $10. Free for students, children and BUSD staff. Well
have
drinks and food. Box opens at 6:30 pm.
3. Come see a great night of one Act plays presented by Advanced
Theatre projects
this Saturday at 8:00 pm at the Little Theater $5 for everybody.
Students directed plays -- a great time for all.
4. June 12th, 2006 at 8:00 pm at BHS Little Theatre. AHA dancers,
actors
and visual artists will be performing. These are culminating projects
from our first year of AHA Arts Wheel classes! Come support AHA!
SALES
1. Yearbooks are on sale in H102 everyday at lunch and after school.
They
are $70 dollars. Make checks payable to BHS yearbooks.
2. Bart tickets for May are here. Please pick up your tickets by June
7,
2006. New ticket orders for June should arrive today.
3. COUPON BOOKS-Stop by Milvia Street exits and get your copy of “Guide
to
the Good Life in Berkeley”. For just $10, you get hundreds of coupons
