STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration

1.	Who are you voting for?  The BHS Student Body Elections are 
happening on Wednesday, May 31st during second period.  You can hear 
from all your candidates today at lunch in the Courtyard.  Come out and 
hear their goals for student government and meet the candidates.

2.	Friday, June 2nd, is the last day for students to turn in a 
Transcript request form to Ms. Mellion in D173.

3.	Health Fact of the Week:  Overwhelmed with prom?  Grades getting you 
down?  Are you just feeling stressed out?  The BHS Health Center is 
here for you.  Common symptoms of stress include: irritability, sleep 
disturbances, change in appetite, apathy, fatigue, and headaches.  To 
relieve stress you could listen to music, talk to someone, create 
artwork, exercise, take a walk, dance, or play sports.  Brought to you 
by the BHS Health Center Youth Advisory Board.

4.	JOBS: Stop by the admin office and pick up the information.

Clubs
1.	Earphone English in C116 at lunch today.  Please return all audio 
books by next week. Summer break is almost here!

Sports
1.	 There is a meeting today in the Donahue Gym at 3:30 pm for those 
who wish to try out for Basketball for next year,.

2.	Anyone interested in playing on the BHS Women’s Golf team next 
should come to a meeting on Thursday, June 1, after school at 3:30 pm 
in H208.  The meeting will be short one but you will get important 
paperwork needed for participation.

3.	All students interested in running Cross Country next fall should 
come to an informational meeting on Thursday, June 1,  at lunch in 
G105.


Senior / Junior Section

1.	College Visits:

2.	CSF Seal-bearers:  The cords and tassels for graduation are here.  
Pick yours up from Ms. Harris in the College Career Center.

3.	All senior rally dancers who have participated in the rallies are 
invited to perform for graduation.  We must meet after school in the 
Afro-Haitian room for rehearsals after school.  The first MANDATORY 
meeting will take place Wednesday, May 31st.

4.	Prom Ticket Reminders:  The last and absolute final day to purchase 
prom tickets is Wednesday May 31st after school 3:15 - 4:00 pm. The 
tickets are $85. Make sure you have all book debts cleared and 
necessary activity and guest contracts on file.  When you come to the 
window you will need your ID.

5.	Important Prom information:  Prom is Saturday, June 3, 2006 at Hotel 
Nikko in San Francisco.  222 Mason St.  The doors will open ay 7:30 pm 
and there will be no admittance after 10:30 pm.  Each guest must have a 
ticket and ID to enter.  All guest contracts and ID’s must be on file 
by May 31st.  No jeans or tennis shoes are allowed.  Senior. Prom is a 
formal event.

6.	There are four free prom dresses available in D148.  Please see 
Ivery McKnight-Johnson.

7.	Juniors- the UC pamphlet, Introducing the University, has arrived. 
Pick yours up in the College Center to get information on each UC 
campus, including admissions, majors, financial aid and important 
contact information.

8.	Scholarships for seniors: Are you a low income senior who did not 
get enough money in your financial aid package to meet your full need?  
You can apply for the "Sallie Mae Unmet Need Scholarship" and win up to 
a $3,800 scholarship that is renewable each year.  Scholarships are 
open to students who are US citizens or permanent residents, have a 
family adjusted gross income of $30,000 or less.  Applications 
available in D221 or at

Deadline is May 31.


Events/ Performance

1.	SENIORS: There is a senior trip to Santa Cruz on June 6th.  Buy your 
tickets now!  Tickets are $25 and will be sold each day at lunch on the 
Community Theatre steps.

2.	Opera Club!  If you are interested in getting incredibly cheap ($30) 
tickets to the SF Opera and seeing world class performances, check 
this. Attend Madam Butterfly by Puccini on May 30 (Tuesday).  Space is 
limited so purchase your ticket now!  See Mr. Ayers in C324.

SALES

1.	Yearbooks are on sale in H102 everyday at lunch and after school.  
They are $70 dollars.  Make checks payable to BHS yearbooks.

2.	Bart tickets for May are here.  Please pick up your tickets by June 
6, 2006.  New ticket orders for June should arrive today.

3.	COUPON BOOKS: Stop by Milvia Street exits and get your copy of 
“Guide to the Good Life in Berkeley”.  For just $10, you get hundreds 
of coupons that can save you hundreds of dollars  at places like 
Extreme Pizza, Crepes A Go Go , and Grub and Go, LaVal’s, Games of 
Berkeley and Iceland. All proceeds go to support Berkeley Schools.
