BHS CAS Tanzania Project Benefit Dinner
Saturday, June 10, 7 p.m.
This summer, 11 students and 2 teachers from BHS, Communications Arts
and Sciences (CAS), will spend a month in a small village in
Tanzania, Africa. They will help build a new schoolroom, tutor and
coach in a village school and work on HIV/AIDS education. Most are
paying their own way, but they are raising funds so that a diverse
group of students can go, and so that they can bring school and
medical supplies with them. Please come to a dinner party to support
this project.
The cuisine will be authentic Tanzanian. The party will be in the
large, contemporary art-filled home of an East Bay benefactor. The
hosts and servers will be the teachers and students going to Africa,
and their parents. The entertainment will be BHS Afro-Haitian
dancers, a showing of photos of the village and a Silent Auction
including African artwork. Wine and beer will be available.
Tickets are being sold in advance for $35 ($15 for children under
14). Call, email or send a check to Bob Laird, 2322 Carleton,
Berkeley, 94702, 548-6274, boblaird at sbcglobal.net
<mailto:bob_laird at sbcglobal.net> . (Checks payable to BHS
Development Group/CAS Africa). If you can't attend, you can send a
donation to the address above.
