The Berkeley High Crew Teams had a successful showing at the
Southwest Regional Rowing Championships. Competing against 27 other
teams of which only Berkeley High School is a public high school and
at least 20 teams are club teams, the Berkeley High men and women
entered boats in 22 events.
Ten Berkeley High boats made it through the heats to qualify for
finals in their categories. These boats included the Men's Varsity 8,
Lightweight 8, Lightweight 4, Freshman 8 and Freshman 4 and the
Women's Varsity 8, Varsity 4, JV 8, Lightweight 4 and Freshmen 4. The
Varsity Women's 8 won the petite final and Men's Lightweight 4 and
the Women's Varsity 4 qualified to go the USRowing National Youth
Championships in Cincinnati Ohio June 8-10.
The Men's lightweight boat going to Nationals is made up of
Sophomores Ian Horton and Patrick Stolcke, Junior Cole Pedicone and
Seniors Alex Mog and Daniel Krasnor. The Women's Varsity boat going
to nationals is made up of sophomores Emma and Rosa Cox and Seniors
Kat Powelson, Jesse Moritz and Phoebe Kasdin.
