Administration

1.	SUMMER SCHOOL APPLICATIONS ARE HERE!  Sign up in the Counseling Dept.
Summer Schools dates are June 21- July 28th.  Early registration is May 
3- May 26th.
Don’t delay -- enroll today.

2.	The Search is on for America’s Next Top Artist!   Students, Faculty,
  and Staff:  The BHS Health Center is seeking a logo to be used for 
publications.
Winner receives a $100 gift certificate to Amoeba Music.  Contest starts
immediately.  All entries must be submitted by June 5th. Official entry
forms can be picked up at the front desk of the BHS Health Center in 
H105.
Computer graphics or ink drawings accepted.

3.	Attention all LEADERSHIP CANDIDATES for the 2006-2007 school year.
There is a mandatory meeting in Conference Room B at lunch on May 22nd.


Clubs
1.	The last trial of the Berkeley High Student Court will be held  
TODAY, May 17.
beginning at 5:00 pm.  Trials are held across the street in the Berkeley
City Council Chambers, on the second floor of Old City Hall.

2.	Earphone English meets on Wednesday at lunch in C116 as usual.  If 
you have any
audio books at home that you’re not listening to then please return 
them.

3.	There will be a Club Commissioners meeting on Thursday, May 18th at
lunch in Conference Room B.  All clubs interested in returning next year
and new clubs who wish to begin next year need to attend.  We will also 
be
discussing participation in 2006-07 Freshman Orientation.

4.	APIC meeting! Thursday, May 18th in G302 during lunch time.  This is 
a
very important meeting!  Members be sure to be there!

Sports
1.	Volleyball Open Gym  is available on Thursdays 4:30 - 5:30 pm in the
Donahue Gym  on  5/18, 5/25, 6/1.  Open Gym is available to all Berkeley
High girls.

2.	The BHS FIRST PLACE SOFTBALL TEAM  plays Alameda at Cal’s Softball 
field
tomorrow (Thursday) at 4:00 pm.  Come on out and support the most
successful softball team in Berkeley High’s history.

3.	The Student Athlete Lunch,  sponsored by the Barbeque Club and the
Berkeley Athletic Fund, is this Thursday, May 18 at lunchtime in the 
Courtyard.  If
your name appears on the lists posted by the pool and Donahue Gym, you
can pick up a ticket at lunch tomorrow or just prior to the event on
Thursday.  Don’t miss it!

Senior / Junior Section

1.	College Visits:

2.	Jacqueline Boutte will give a presentation on Wednesday, May 24th, 
5th
period in the College and Career Center on becoming a Certified Nurse
Assistant and Home Health Aide (CNA/HHA).  Come to D221 to sign up.
Training program starts again in the fall of 2006 at the Berkeley Adult
School.

3.	Scholarships for Seniors: Are you a low income senior who did not get
enough money in your financial aid package to meet your full need?  You
can apply for the Sallie Mae Unmet Need Scholarship and win up to a 
$3,800
scholarship that is renewable each year.  Scholarships are open to
students who are US citizens or permanent residents, have a family
adjusted gross income of $30,000 or less.  Applications available in 
D221
or at

Deadline is May 31.

4.	Seniors:  Have you recently turned 18?  Will you be 18 by June 6, 
2006?
  If so, stop by D148 and pick up a Voter Registration card in order to
vote in the June 6th Primary Election.

5.	Nancy Elizabeth Branch 2006 African American Scholarship- Open to
African-American seniors planning to attend a four year college.
Applications available in D221.  Scholarship: $1,000.  Deadline:  May 
31st.

Events/ Performance
1.	SENIORS- there is a SENIOR TRIP to Santa Cruz on June 6th.  Buy your
tickets now!  Tickets are $25 and will be sold each day at lunch on the
Community Theatre steps.

2.	If you want to record your music (rap, beats, or string quartets) you
can come to the CAS sound studio for complete professional support from
our professional student engineers.  Cut your own CD!  If you are
interested, see Mr. Ayers in C324 to sign up.

3.	Flamenco Concert, Thursday, May 18th 7:30 pm featuring: Carla 
Zertuche,
baile, David Mclean, guitarra, Stephanie Narvaez, baile, Ariel El 
Moreno,
cante, and Katja Cooper, percussion.  King Middle School 1781 Rose St.,
Berkeley  Concert is $5 for students, $15 - $50 for adults.  Tickets at
the door.

4.	Come to the APIC Festival this Saturday, May 20th from 12:00 
Noon-4:00 pm in Berkeley's Civic Center Park
(across from the high school)  Bring friends and family and enjoy your 
day at the festival filled with
entertainment, food and games.

5.	Opera Club!  If you are interested in getting incredibly cheap ($30)
tickets to the SF Opera and seeing world class performances, check this.
Attend Madam Butterfly by Puccini on May 30 (Tuesday).  Space is limited
so purchase your ticket now!  See Mr. Ayers in C324.

SALES

1.	Yearbooks are on sale in H102 everyday at lunch and after school.  
They
are $70 dollars.  Make checks payable to BHS yearbooks.

2.	Bart tickets orders will be taken on Wednesday 5/17 and Thursday 5/18
at lunchtime in room D224.  This will be the last sale of BART tickets 
for
this school session you may purchase as many tickets as you like.

price is $16.00 cash only!
