Administration
1. SUMMER SCHOOL APPLICATIONS ARE HERE! Sign up in the Counseling
Dept. BHS Summer School dates are June 21- July 28th. Early
registration is May 3-May 26th. Don’t delay-- get enrolled.
2. Missing Social Studies materials. If anyone has information about a
box of TCI Middle East Studies Curriculum or big box of California Desk
Maps please see Mr. Berkman in C107.
3. New elective for next year: Peer Tutoring/ Leadership. Learn a
great way to help your fellow students and learn more about yourself!
To sign up please see Miss Lovett in C331 or your counselor.
4. Jr. Prom disks are now available for check out. See Ruby Taylor at
the front desk.
5. The Parent Resource Center will open at 11:00 am on Friday, May
12th. Bart tickets will arrive next week per Bart Representatives.
New mail person didn’t deliver BHS order until 5/8/06.
6. AP TEST- Students please do not forget to bring your student ID
pictures!
8:00 am Macroeconomics
7. Youth volunteers needed at MOCHA: The Museum of Children’s Art in
Oakland is seeking High School students. For more information call Rae
Holzman, 465-8770 x 310 or visit <www.mocha.org>.
8. Student needed for garden work near Live Oak Park- 3-5 hours per
week, after school and Saturdays, times are flexible. Salary: $8-10
per hour. Sophomore or junior student preferred. For more information,
call Adele at 524-9351.
Clubs
1. The last two trials of the Berkeley High Student Court will be held
on Tuesday and Wednesday. Both trials start at 5:00 pm. Trials are
held across the street in the Berkeley City Council Chambers, on the
second floor of Old City Hall.
2. Attention all members of the Culture and Language Exchange Club:
Come to an important meeting during 2nd period on Friday in C105. Get
your permission slips from Mr. Berkman or Ms. Friedman, C105 or C107.
We will be talking about our final event of the year, the Ropes Course!
Be there or be square.
Sports
1. Open Gym volleyball is available on Thursdays, 4:30 – 5:30 in
Donahue Gym on 5/11, 5/18, 5/25, 6/1. Open Gym is open to all
Berkeley High Girls.
Senior / Junior Section
1. Scholarships- CSF Sealbearer: You must be a member of CSF for at
least 4 semesters, including one semester during senior year;
demonstrate financial need, and plan to attend a college in the fall of
2006-Applications in D221. Deadline- May 18.
3. Seniors! Have you recently turned 18? Will you be 18 by June 6,
2006? If so, stop by D148 and pick up a voter Registration card in
order to vote in the June 6th primary Election.
4. Nancy Elizabeth Branch 2006 African American Scholarship- Open to
African-American seniors planning to attend a four year college.
Applications available in D221. Scholarship: $1,000. Deadline: May
31st.
5. Seniors- Full time summer jobs available with the Social Security
Administration, 1221 Nevin Avenue, Richmond, across from the Richmond
BART station. Pay $11.34 per hour. Low income students are given
priority for employment. Applications available in D221.
6. Asian Graduation is having a very important meeting, Monday in C333
during lunch. It is your last chance to participate.
Events/ Performance
1. SENIORS- there is a senior trip to Santa Cruz on June 6th. Buy your
tickets now! Tickets are $25 and will be sold each day at lunch on the
community theatre steps.
2. Come to the BHS Health Center Open House! Tuesday, May 16th, 3:15
-5:00 pm in H105. Come enjoy an informational tour of the Health
Center. Learn about what is available for BHS students and meet the new
First Aid nurse. Free food, stress relieving treatments, and a raffle
with great prizes.
3. If you want to record your music- rap, beats, or string quartets-
you can come to the CAS sound studio for complete professional support
from our professional student engineers. Cut your own CD! If you are
interested, see Mr. Ayers in C324 to sign up.
4. ATTENTION ACTORS,SINGERS & DANCERS: Youth Musical Theater Company
announces auditions for its Fall 2006 show, GUY & DOLLS. Interested?

5. DJ Workshop- Learn turntable skills! Tuesday, May 16th 4:00 -6:00

6. CAS MexEx Benefit Brunch and Silent Auction, Saturday, May 13 10
am-1pm Six Degrees Restaurant 1403 Solano Ave., N Berkeley Tickets
$35. Also bring your checkbook for the silent auction. You can also
purchase tickets in C319.
7. Flamenco Concert, Thursday, May 18th 7:30 pm Featuring: Carla
Zertuche, baile, David Mclean, guitarra, Stephanie Narvaez, baile,
Ariel El Moreno, cante, and Katja Cooper, percussion. King Middle
School 1781 Rose St., Berkeley Concert is $5 for students, $15 - $50
for adults. Tickets at the door.
8. Come to Y Fest 2006, a rally/festival celebrating youth power, this
Saturday from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 pm at the Justin Herman Plaza in San
Francisco. This event features music from the Gnomes, The DJ Project,
the Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble of San Francisco and more. Check it out
on <myspace.com/yfest>.
9. Opera Club! If you are interested in getting incredibly cheap ($30)
tickets to the SF Opera and seeing world class performances, check
this. Attend Madam Butterfly by Puccini on May 30 (Tuesday). Space is

SALES
1. Yearbooks are on sale in H102 everyday at lunch and after school.
They are $70 dollars. Make checks payable to BHS yearbooks.
2. Bart tickets orders will be taken on Wednesday 5/17 and Thursday
5/18 at lunchtime in room D224. This will be the last sale of BART
tickets for this school session you may purchase as many tickets as you
like. Ticket price is $16.00 cash only!
