1. AP TEST Schedule for May 1, 2006

2. STAR TEST MAKE-UP: If you missed a test please report to the West
Gallery of the Community Theater by 8:30 AM today!
3. Don’t forget: Wednesday, May 3rd is a "Late Start Wednesday."
Students report to school at 10:00 AM.
4. Teachers: If your second period class participated in the pennies
for patients campaign for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society and your
box hasn’t been picked up yet, contact Ms. McKnight-Johnson. Thank you
for donating.
5. Need help with a writing assignment? Writer’s Cafe has moved to the
library for its last four sessions scheduled for May 3 &4. We have
writing coaches available to help you brainstorm, organize, or polish
your work. Come and see us this Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30 AM
to 12:10 PM.
Clubs
1. Want to represent Latino culture? Do you sing? Dance? Do spoken
word? Come audition for the La Raza Latino Awareness Assembly. May 4th
at lunchtime in Ms. Room C124.

Senior / Junior Section
1. College Visits:
2. Juniors- The next day to schedule an appointment with the college
advisor is today, MAY 1. beginning at 8:00 am. Students who have
already had an appointment or missed a previous appointment may not
sign up for another one.
3. Seniors- Full time summer jobs available with the Social Security
Administration, 1221 Nevin Avenue, Richmond, across from the Richmond
BART station. Pay $11.34 per hour. Low income students are given
priority for employment. Applications available in D221.
4. Seniors! Our time here at Berkeley High School has almost come to
an end. Graduation is around the corner! Do you want to be a part of
the show? Are you a speaker, artist, or dancer? Come to the try out
on May 9 and 10th starting 6th period in the Community Theater. Sign
up with Ruby at the front desk. Have something creative prepared. We
want to see all your diverse talents. Be there!
5. MAY 1 Deadline- May 1 is the deadline to send in your Statement of
Intent to register (SIR) to most colleges and universities. For most
schools, if you do not send in your SIR and your deposit (if required)
by May 1, you will not be able to attend that school I the fall. You
may only send in a SIR to one school. It is unethical to tell more
than one school that you plan to attend their college in the fall. If
you have any questions at all, please stop by to see me at lunch or
after school.
6. Seniors! Seniors! Need a little extra ends? Well the register of
voters is in need of Poll Workers in your local area to assist with
polling place set-up and check in. The pay is a whopping $90. See
Mrs. McKnight for more information.
7. JOB OPENINGS- MTC Summer High School Internship program open to
students at least 16 years old who have completed the 10th grade and
has a GPA of 2.9 or above. 25 internships available throughout the San
Francisco Bay Area. Salary: $8.25 per hour. Students may work full or
part-time for up to 8 weeks between June and August 2005. Applications
available in D221 or at <www.mtc.ca.gov>.
Events/ Performance
SALES
1. Yearbooks are on sale in H102 everyday at lunch and after school.
They are $70 dollars. Make checks payable to BHS yearbooks.
2. Starting Wednesday, May 3, 2006 you can stop by Milvia Street exits
and get your copy of “Guide to the Good Life in Berkeley”. For just
$10 you get hundreds of coupons that can save you hundreds of dollars
at places like Extreme Pizza, Crepes A Go Go , and Grub and Go,
LaVal’s, Games of Berkeley and Iceland. All proceeds go to support
Berkeley Schools! And many many more.
3. Bart ticket orders will be taken on Thursday and Friday in rooms
D224 at lunchtime only. No ticket orders will be taken after lunch on
Friday. Ticket prices are $16.00 each -- cash only, please.
