Administration
1.	STAR test: The Star test will be given to all 9th through 11th  
graders from Tuesday, April 25th through Friday, April 28th.

On Tuesday all 9th – 11th graders should go to their 2nd period class  
or to the location given to them by their teacher at 8:30 am.  The STAR  
tests will be given until lunch each day.  SENIORS STAY HOME UNTIL  
AFTER LUNCH.

The schedule will take place as follows:  After  lunch ALL STUDENTS  
INCLUDING SENIORS report as follows.

2.	BSEP Meeting today (Monday, April 24) at 4:30 pm in the Conference  
Room B.

3.	The BHS Site Council will meet Tuesday, April 25, 4:30 – 6:00 pm in  
Conference Room B.  On the agenda is a vote on a proposal for a Site  
Council bylaw change, First Semester Grade reports, Small Schools Data,  
Algebra Project Update, Student Coordination Update.  Please feel free  
to contact me with any questions.  Jane Wise SSC recorder, 525-0124.

4.	For anyone absent during on-line scheduling-- or for anyone wanting  
to make changes to their requests-- make up on-line schedules is  
everyday after school in the library computer lab for the first two  
weeks after spring break  (Monday 4/17 through Friday 4/28).

5.	Need help with a writing assignment?  Writer’s Cafe has moved to the  
library for its last four sessions --May 3 & 4.  We have writing  
coaches available to help you brainstorm, organize, or polish your  
work.  Come and see us this Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30 am to  
12:10 pm.

6.	Attention BHS Staff and Administration: Coordinated School Health  
Council meeting is this Wednesday, April 26th at 3:30 pm in Conference  
Room B.  Hope to see you there!  If you have questions, please call  
Shannon Banks at 510-253-6448.

7.	Teachers: Your input is very important to the BHS Health Center!   
Please remember to return your completed staff surveys to the Health  
Center by Friday, April 28th.  You can either drop them in our mailbox  
in the D-building or hand deliver them to the Health Center and redeem  
your $5- Peets gift card.

Clubs
1.	There will be an important mandatory meeting, for all students who  
will be participating in the “Celebration of Excellence" ceremony” (AKA  
  Black Graduation. ) We will meet TODAY, April 24, 2006 at lunch in   
H214.

2.	Students can still apply for student court attorney positions.  Pick  
up an application in C311.

3.	Talking to all Muslims!  Today will be the annual Muslims!  Today  
will be the annual Muslim Union.  Please come over during lunch time.

4.	Want to represent Latino culture? Do you sing? Dance? Do spoken  
word? Come audition for the LaRaza Latino Awareness Assembly.  May 4th  
at lunchtime in Room C124.

5.	Wanna be safe? Come to G103 at lunch on Wednesday, April 26th,  to  
join Condom Club.

Sports

Senior / Junior Section

1.	College Visits:
Tuesday, April 25

sign up in D221 to attend

2.	Seniors who have purchased Graduation Announcements and Souvenirs,  
please come to the community theatre at lunch or after school with your  
ID to pick your items up.  Please be prepared to pay any remaining  
balances.

3.	MAY 1 Deadline- May 1 is the deadline to send in your Statement of  
Intent to register (SIR) to most colleges and universities.  For most  
schools, if you do not send in your SIR and your deposit (if required)  
by May 1, you will not be able to attend that school I the fall.  You  
may
only send in a SIR to one school.  It is unethical to tell more than  
one school that you plan to attend their college in the fall.  If you  
have any questions at all, please stop by to see me at lunch or after  
school.

4.	UC Merced is still accepting applications for all majors for fall  
2006. To apply, you must download a paper application at

download.html>.

5.	Summer job- Meyer Sound labs has 5-7 paid summer internships for  
high school students (must be 16 years old) in manufacturing operations  
doing assembly or data entry type work.  Interns must commit to a  
minimum of 6-8 weeks for 30 hours per week.  Interested students can  
stop by Meyer Sound at 2832 San Pablo Ave between 8:30 – 5:00 pm.

6.	Summer programs- take classes at any of the UC campuses for college  
credit.  For more information go to

lists contact information, academic requirements, and cost of summer  
sessions at each UC campus.  Also for more details see Ilene Abrams.

7.	Save the date!  St. Mary’s College Fair, Saturday, April 29th from  
1:00 to 4:30 pm.  Take the bus directly from Berkeley High to St.  
Mary’s
College in Moraga.  $2 tickets available from Mrs. Harris in the  
College Career Center- first come, first serve!

8.	JOB OPENINGS:  MTC Summer High School Internship program open to  
students at least 16 years old who have completed the 10th grade and  
has a GPA of 2.9 or above.  25 internships available throughout the San  
Francisco Bay Area. Salary: $8.25 per hour. Students may work full or  
part-time for up to 8 weeks between June and August 2005.  Applications  
available in D221 or at <http://www.mtc.ca.gov>.


Events/ Performance

Sales

1.	Yearbooks are on sale in H102 everyday at lunch and after school.   
They are $70 dollars.  Make checks payable to BHS yearbooks.

2.	Juniors!  Tickets are on sale for $70.00 at the Allston Way Box  
office.

3.	Stop by Milvia Street exits and get your copy of “Guide to the Good  
Life in Berkeley”.  For just $10, you get hundreds of coupons that can  
save you hundreds of dollars – at places like Extreme Pizza, Crepes A  
Go Go , and Grub and Go, LaVal’s, Games of Berkeley and Iceland. All  
proceeds go to support Berkeley Schools! And many many more.
