STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
1.	Wednesday, April 5th is late start.  Students start school at 10:00 AM.

2.	For anyone absent during on-line scheduling, or for anyone wanting to
make changes to their requests, make up on-line scheduling is everyday
after school in the library computer lab for the first two weeks after
spring break.  (Monday 4/17 through Friday 4/28).

3.	There is a Student Council meeting this Thursday at lunch in the Little
Theater.  All second period representatives must attend.

4.	Attention all Classified and Certificated Staff:  The representative
from CAL PERS and CALSTRS will be here for those interested in home loans
and refinancing.  Take advantage of the great discounts we qualify for.
Michelle Lee is the representative and she has lots of great plans and
options to help you save money now!  Don't delay.  Come to Conference room
A on Thursday, April 6th from 11:00 -12:30 PM.

5.	You are invited to attend the Berkeley Youth Alcohol Awareness event!
Thursday, April 6th cross the street to Civic Center Park for a fun
filled, informational event,  including games, prizes and loads of free
stuff.  A double Dutch and Spoken Word contest will occur between 11:30-
12:15.  See you there!  Brought to BHS by the Berkeley Alcohol Awareness
Month committee, for more info call 981-5218.

6.	Health Fact of the week!  Each year, one in four teens contracts a
sexually transmitted disease.  (American Social Health Association, 2005).
Don't be one of them.  Come get free, confidential testing at the health
center.  Brought to you by the BHS Youth Advisory Board.


Clubs
1.	Applications are now available to be a lawyer for the Berkeley High
School Court.  Go to C311 to get one and apply.

2.	Earphone English today at lunch in C116.


Sports
1.	Attention all boys basketball players, come to the Donahue Gym lobby
for pizza and awards this Friday at lunch.  Please bring your uniform if
you have not yet turned it in.

2.	Congratulations to the men's crew team Varsity 8 boat for coming in 3rd
in the petite final at the San Diego Crew Classic this last weekend.  Come
see the men and women in their last home race of the season against
Stanfurd, Serra and Northbay this Sunday April 9 from 8 to 11 AM in the
Oakland Estuary.  Directions and information at

3.	Attention Boys Soccer Players:  You must turn in your complete uniform
to the athletic office by Wednesday of this week.  Those who are not
cleared will not be given athletic credit and will be placed on the debt
list.  Please turn your items in at lunch or after school next week!

4.	All Winter Athletes must turn in uniforms and equipment to the athletic
office at lunch or after school as soon as possible.  Missing or lost
equipment must be either turned in or paid for in order to earn letter and
athletic credit.


Senior / Junior Section
1.	Save the date!  St. Mary’s College Fair, Saturday, April 29th from 1:00
to 5:00 pm.  Take the bus directly from Berkeley High to St. Mary’s
College in Moraga.  $2 tickets available from Mrs. Harris in the College
Career Center- first come, first serve!

2.	Seniors- There are many scholarships available in the College Center
and few of you are applying.  Please come by to check these out and apply
for FREE MONEY!!

3.	Two new scholarships for African-American females.  The Olga Jane Lewis
Scholarship requires a 3.5 unweighted GPA.  The Ida Louise Jackson
Scholarship requires a 3.0 GPA.  Each one is for $1,000.

4.	Scholarship- Wa Sung Community Service club- Scholarship for graduating
high school senior of Asian descent currently residing in Alameda or
Contra Costa County who will be attending college in the fall.  Winners
must attend the WA Sung Merrit Awards ceremony on Sunday, May 21, 7-12
scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded.  Deadline: April 17.


Events/ Performance
1.	Attention Juniors!  Junior Prom ticket sales at lunch in the Allston
Way Box office.  Ticket sales are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of
every week at lunch.  Tickets will start at $65.00 each and will go up $5
each week with a maximum ticket price of $75.00 per ticket.  Remember!
Prom is April 29th.


SALES
1.	Yearbooks are on sale in H102 everyday at lunch and after school.  They
are $70 dollars.  Make checks payable to BHS yearbooks.
