STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
1.	The dates for the Honors Algebra 2 and Honors Math Analysis tests are
April 3rd and April 5th from 3:30-4:15 in room H306.  Please contact Mr.
Weitz via email at  <mweitz at berkeley.k12.ca.us> to sign up for the 
test.  Ask your current math
teacher for more information.

2.	Are you planning on taking an Advanced Placement AP course next year?
If so, you must come to a lunchtime informational meeting Thursday or
Friday to hear important course information and pick up an informational
packet:
AP Biology will be in G212,
AP Chemistry will be in G215,
AP Physics will be in G217,
AP Environmental Science will be in G209.

3.	DO you like science?  Do you want a paid summer internship at a 
biotech
company like Bayer or Chiron?  Do you like working with hi-tech
equipment?  If you’re a sophomore, apply for the Biotech Academy.  Pick 
up
an application from Mr. Fong in G305 or Dr. Stone in G304.  Applications
are still available and due back early next week.

4.	Student Government applications are now available in Ms.
McKnight-Johnson’s office-- D148 in the main office-- and in the SLC.  
Pick
up one today!

5.	The MORP (Prom backwards) is re-scheduled for March 31st from 
6:30-10:00 p.m.
in the BHS Food Court.  If you already have purchased tickets, you will
be added to the guest list.  All others can still purchase tickets on
Monday at the Allston Way box office at lunch and after school.   
Tickets
are $5 per person. Special Guest Artist will be performing!  See you 
there!

6.	Come audition for Dance Production 2007!  This year’s sophomores and
juniors are invited to audition for next year’s class.  The audition is
Thursday, March 16, after school.  Rehearsals start this Wednesday at
lunch.  Come see Ms. Carr in the A building for more info.  If you love 
to
dance, come on by!

7.	Attention all Leadership members:  Today‘s meeting after school is 
very
important.  Please attend and come on time.  Lots of updates and 
planning
to do!  Meeting will be in A105- Ms. Z’s room.  Plan to stay for the
entire hour.


Clubs
1.	Wanted to exchange homes (in Madrid), house sit, or rent; 3 or 4
bedroom home from July 23-August 24.  This is a Spanish family coming to
Berkeley to do research at Cal.  We are exchanging with them the first
three weeks in July, but they have a two month commitment.  Please call
525-4454 or email <ggorrin at pacbell.net> if you
can help.

2.	The Club Commissioners meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday, 
March
16, at lunch in Conference Room A.

3.	All students interested in joining and supporting La Raza Club's bike
ride for peace to Sacramento in memory of Salvador Villareal should 
come to an
informational meeting Tuesday at lunch in C124.  We meet every Tuesday 
at
lunch.

4.	Come be a juror for the Berkeley High student court.  Earn community
service and help out your fellow students.  There are two trials this
week:  Tuesday and Thursday.  Please come to the second floor of the 
green
domed building across from the park (Berkeley City Council Chambers).
Please arrive at 5:00 pm.

5.	Physical inactivity increases the risk of dying prematurely, dying of
heart disease and developing diabetes, colon cancer, and high blood
pressure.  Stay active.  Stay healthy. Brought to you by the BHS Youth
Advisory Board.

Sports
Berkeley Girls Basketball defeated Napa High last Saturday 28-56 to win
their 7th Norcal Division I title!  They play Poly of Long Beach in the
State Championship next Saturday at 6:00 pm in the Arco Arena in
Sacramento. A rooter bus will be available to the first fifty who sign 
up.
  $25 buys you a ticket, a ride, and a snack at the game.   Presale 
tickets
and rooter bus tickets will be available at lunch and afterschool on
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Come on out and cheer on our Jackets!

Senior / Junior Section
1.	College Visits:
Tuesday, March 14:
1:20 and 2:20 Cal State East Bay onsite admissions in D221.
Bring an official transcript.

2.	East Bay Consortium of Educational Institutions Scholarship - Thirty
$2,500 scholarships will be awarded for students attending four year
college, nineteen $1,000 scholarships for students attending community
colleges.  Must be a graduating senior who will be attending a four year
accredited college or university, or a community college or a
vocational/technical school.  Students must have a minimum 2.0 if
attending a community college or vocational school, active participation
in extracurricular activities and financial need.  Applications 
available
in D221.  Deadline: April 21.

3.	Tzu Chi foundation Scholarship- Seniors are selected based on 
financial
need, academic achievement and community involvement.  Minimum 
unweighted
GPA of 3.0 $1,000 scholarship.  Deadline: March 31st.

4.	Seniors!  Did you miss your senior portrait appointment!  Did you
forget to schedule one?  Well, you now have one more opportunity to be
featured on the Senior Formal Memory poster.  Appointments are available
on March 15th and 16th from 2:30 – 7:00 pm here at BHS.  Contact

Events/ Performance

1.	The Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble and Combo's Spring Jazz 
Concert
is March 17.  Come hear what the musicians are up to.  BHS students,
teachers and staff are free!!  Others $10 please.  We will have lots of
delicious food for sale before the concert and at intermission so bring
your appetites.  This is all happening at the Little Theater at BHS.
Tickets are available at the door.  Box office opens at 7:00 pm.  For
further information on the performance, please contact Lori Ferguson at
527-8245.

SALES

1.	BART tickets for March are here.  Please pick up your tickets in room
D224 at lunchtime only.

2.	BART ticket orders will be taken March 30, and 31 at lunchtime in
D224.  Price per ticket is $16.00

3.	Yearbooks are on sale in H102 everyday at lunch and after school.  
They
are $70 dollars.  Make checks payable to BHS yearbooks.
