Administration
1. Attention CSF participants! CSF applications and community
service sheets are now available in the SLC. Seniors, you must
complete 4 semesters, one of which must be from your senior year in
order to qualify for seal bearer status.
2. The dates for the Honors Algebra 2 and Honors Math Analysis tests are
April 3rd and April 5th from 3:30-4:15 in room H306. Please contact
Mr. Weitz via email at
[ mailto: mweitz at berkeley.k12.ca.us] to sign up for the test. Ask
your current math teacher for more information.
3. Students and Administration! March is Pennies for Patients
Month. Please donate to the Leukemia and Lymphoma society by making
contribution in your second period boxes or by buying paper pennies
for $2.00 in D148 or in the main office. See Mrs. McKnight or your
second period student
council rep.
4. The MORP (Prom backwards) is re-scheduled for March 31st from
6:30-10 PM in the BHS Food Court. If you already have purchased
tickets, you will be added to the guest list. All others can still
purchase tickets on Monday at the Allston Way box office at lunch and
after school. Tickets are $5 per person. Special Guest Artist will
be performing! See you there!
5. Prom-goers get ready! Today, March 10th is the Annual Prom
Fair. We will have vendors for all of your apparel and transportation
need. Also, a special well-known performer will be in the courtyard
to entertain.
6. Come audition for Dance Production 2007! This year's
sophomores and juniors are invited to audition for next year's class.
The Audition is next Thursday, March 16th after school. Rehearsals
start this Wednesday at lunch. Come see Ms. Carr in the A building
for more info. If you love to dance, come on by!
7. Student and staff please check the Parent Resource Center for
lost items. Due to space issues items can only be kept for short
period of time. Items will be given away to the Disaster Relief next
week.
8. Are you missing a coat, sweater, t-shirt, pants, etc? Please
stop by the PE office before and after school and during lunch to
pick up your items. Unclaimed items will be donated to Goodwill.
Clubs
1. The club commissioners meeting has been rescheduled to
Thursday March 16th at lunch in conference room A.
2. Physical inactivity increases the risk of dying prematurely,
dying of heart disease and developing diabetes, colon cancer, and
high blood pressure. Stay active. Stay healthy. Brought to you by
the BHS Youth Advisory Board.
3. The book drive for Oakland Children's Hospital is still
going! Bring books to your 2nd period class and win a pizza party.
Sports
1. Congratulations to the Lady Jackets Basketball team on their
victory over Castlemont at Cal State East Bay last night. They play
Sheldon High School (8333 Kingsbridge Dr., Sacramento 95829) tomorrow
night at 7:00 PM. The winner of that game moves to the Nor Cal
finals at 6:00 PM at the
Arco Arena on Saturday night! Go Jackets!!
Senior / Junior Section
1. College Visits:
Monday, March 13:
9:30 AM: Cal State Fresno program in Medical Physics. This talk
will focus on the growing field of biomedical physics and the career
opportunities.
Tuesday, March 14:
1:20 and 2:20: Cal State East Bay on site admissions in D221.
Bring an official transcript.
2. East Bay Consortium of Educational Institutions Scholarship:
Thirty $2,500 scholarships will be awarded for students attending
four year colleges, nineteen $1,000 scholarships for students
attending community colleges. Must be a graduating senior who will
be attending a four year accredited college or university, or a
community college or a vocational/technical school. Students must
have a minimum 2.0 if attending a community college or vocational
school, active participation in extracurricular activities and
financial need. Applications available in D221. Deadline: April 21.
3. Tzu Chi foundation Scholarship- Seniors are selected based on
financial need, academic achievement and community involvement.
Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 $1,000 scholarship. Deadline: March
31st.
4. The final days to order your cap and gown for graduation is
here. The Josten's representative will be on campus, Thursday, March
9th at lunch in the courtyard. If you haven't ordered, now is the
time!
5. Meleia Willis-Starbuck Memorial Scholarship For Social
Justice- Graduating senior who plans to attend two or four year
college next year who has participated in work to further the cause
of Social Justice, has financial need and a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Applications available in D221.
Received Deadline: March 30th at 4:00 PM in D221.
6. Seniors! Did you miss your Senior Portrait appointment! Did
you forget to schedule one? Well, you now have one more opportunity
to be featured on the Senior Formal Memory poster. Appointments are
available on March 15th and 16th from 2:30-7:00 PM here at BHS.

7. Chicano-Latino Youth Leadership Project Summer conference.
Open to current 10th and 11th graders, the conference will take place
at Sacramento State University from July 29-August 5. The conference
is free to students who are selected. Applications are available in
D221. Deadline: March 22.
Events/ Performance
1. The 14th Annual Youth Arts Festival is presenting a BHS
student art show, featuring the work of AHA students, as well as,
students in Advanced Placement Art. It runs from now through April
1st at the Berkeley Art Center in Live Oak Park. 1275 Walnut St.
Gallery is open Wednesday through Sundays from noon-5 PM. 644-6893.
2. Coming March 11, Barbara Austin of College Quest will render
a two hour presentation on "How to write an essay that's worth
$150,000 and more." Saturday, March 11th from 10:00- 12:00 noon in
BHS College Career Center. Don't miss it!
3. The Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble and combos spring Jazz
concert is March 17th. Come hear what the musicians are up to. BHS
students, teachers and staff are free!! Others $10 please. We will
have lots of delicious food for sale before the concert and at
intermission so bring your appetites. This is all happening at the
Little Theater at BHS. Tickets are available at the door. Box
office opens at 7:00 PM. For further information on the performance,

SALES
1. BART tickets for March are here. Please pick up your tickets
in room D224 at lunchtime only.
2. BART ticket orders will be taken March 30, and 31st at
lunchtime in room D224. Price per ticket is $16.00
3. Yearbooks are on sale in H102 everyday at lunch and after
school. They are $70 dollars. Make checks payable to BHS yearbooks.
