STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN
January 9, 2006


Administration
1.	BSEP meeting TODAY, January 9th at 4:30 pm in conference room B. 
AGENDA: Introductions, Establish a quorum, Approval of 
Agenda-Additions/Changes, Review and approval of the minutes from the 
last meeting Report from P and O Representatives, Report from Shared 
Governance Representatives; Report from Survey Committee (Aaron, 
Joshua, Ayo); Carryover Funds report; Review of Current Year’s Programs 
Visitation Reports; Application form for next year; Set meeting dates 
for the rest of the school year; Adjournment.

2.	Wednesday is late start.  Students begin school at 10:00am.

3.	Vista Community College is offering an African American studies  
class (History of Hip Hop) for high school Students.  Receive college 
and high school credit. Free.  The class starts Saturday 1/14/06 from 
10 am – 1 pm.  Please call Rebecca Mireles for more information 
253-5701.

Clubs
1.	BHS students ”Speak on It” meets Wednesdays at lunchtime in 
conference room B.  All are welcome.  Lunch served.  See ya there!

2.	Wanna be safe?  Come join the Condom Club.  Meet on Wednesdays at 
lunch in G103.

3.	All students attending the Lenaea Festival in Sacramento must come 
to mandatory meeting in the drama room at lunch on Tuesday.

4.	Applications to be a lawyer for the Berkeley High student court are 
now available outside C311.  Please return them by Thursday at 4:00 
p.m.  For questions, email jdaniels at berkeley.k12.ca.us.

5.	The Club Commissioners meeting will be on Thursday, January 12th at 
lunch in conference room A.  All club representatives must attend.

6.	Attention all Jews!  Come to the JSU, Tuesday, January 10th at lunch 
in A105.  Snacks will be provided as we plan for this year events.

7.	Clubs!  Do you want to be in the yearbook?  Come to H102 during 7th 
to reserve your pages by January 20th.  $25 for a quarter page.  $50 
for a half page and $100 for a full page.  All pages need to be in by 
February 24th.

Sports
1.  Congratulations to the 2005 boys and girls cross country teams for 
achieving the highest goal of educational athletics, combining 
outstanding academic performance with interscholastic athletic 
participation.  The boys named a team gpa of 3.58 and the girls earned 
a team gpa of 3.82, both were the highest of 173 teams in the North 
Coast Section.  All members of the varsity boys and girls cross country 
team are asked to come to Coach Goodrich’s room on Wednesday at lunch 
to receive their award.

Senior / Junior Section
1.	Two helpful lunchtime workshops led by BHS alum and UC Berkeley 
Incentive Awards winner, Laila Nossier, in conference room A.  Tuesday, 
January 10- study skills and organizational skills for the college 
application process.  Thursday, January 12- ways to reduce stress in 
college application process.  Don’t miss these useful sessions!

2.	If you applied to any colleges which require your first semester 
grades, Mid-Year report Forms are due to Ms. Mellion in D173 no later 
than
January 17.  Turn in the Mid-Year Report Form along with a Transcript 
Request Form with “Mid Year Report” written across the top and a 
stamped
envelope addressed to the college with a return address of Berkeley 
High School 1980 Allston Way, Berkeley, CA 94704.  Remember the postage 
cost has increased to 39 cents.

3.	Missed the CAL deadline?  The following Cal State campuses are still 
accepting applications: Cal Maritime, Bakersfield, Channel Islands, 
Domiguez Hills, East Bay (formerly named Hayward), Fresno, Fullerton, 
Los Angeles, Monterey Bay, Sacramento, San Bernadino, San Marcos, 
Stanislaus, Humboldt, San Francisco, and San Jose.  DEADLINE to apply 
to San Francisco is January 13th.

4.	Junior and Senior Artists- National Portfolio Day, Saturday, January 
21 at Art Academy University, 79 New Montgomery St. San Francisco, 
12:00 noon- 4:00 pm.  This is your chance to have tyour portfolio 
reviewed by an expert. Representatives of over 30 leading colleges of 
art and design will be present.  For more information go to

Events/ Performance
1.	Did you love RIZE and Mad Hot Ballroom??  Come out and see the real 
deal!  Berkeley High School’s Dance Production 2006 performs this 
weekend on  Friday and Saturdays, January, 13, 14 @8 pm in the Little 
Theater.  Students $5/ General $10.  Hip hop, Jazz, Modern and Ballet - 
these dancers can bust a move like nobody’s business.

2.	Vampires! Incest! Hillbillies!  And of course!  Love! Come find out 
how you can audition for the spring musical- and learn abnout

SALES

1.	Winter Ball tickets are on sale at lunch on Monday, Wednesday, and 
Fridays at the Allston Way box office.  Tickets are $60.00.  We will no
longer accept any checks! Students must have ID and a student’s 
activities contract on file.

2.	Yearbooks are on sale in H102 everyday at lunch and after school.  
They are now $70 dollars.  Make checks payable to BHS yearbooks.
