The Berkeley area PTA is requesting any BHS families who wish to do
so to contribute to holiday "care packages" being assembled for
distribution at the Hurricane Katrina Relief Center on the first
floor at 2180 Milvia Street for Berkeley's 65 refugee families.

Carol Lopes at the city office asks that contributions be in the form
of vouchers for food (perhaps from Berkeley Bowl) or household
supplies (from Ross, Target, etc.) pharmaceuticals or books. Many
stores will sell such vouchers or gift cards. She notes that such
vouchers are the most wanted items from families and single evacuees.

The PTA came through before when the need was expressed for
furniture, clothing and money. At this time, come join in again with
other groups and families working with the city to lend a hand to
fellow citizens devastated by Katrina. Happy Holidays!
