STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
1.	Thank you Berkeley High Students, staff and parents for your time,
contributions and support prior to and during the Holiday meal.  Student
leadership collected $430 from the Penny Drive, 300 cans from the Canned
Food Drive and we served 300 people this past Saturday. Also, we would
like to announce the winners of the canned food drive:  Mr. Henri’s 
second
period, your pizza party will be served this Friday at lunch in your
classroom, H216.

2.	The Winter Concert (Orchestra) is cancelled this year.  We hope to 
have
one next year.  Thank you. Wendell Brooks.

3.	Congratulations to the BHS Combos for winning 1st and 2nd place at 
the
Santa Rosa Jr College Jazz Festival on Saturday, December 10th.  Julian
Pollack, Sam Goldsmith, Billy Buss. Eric Ashkenas, Charlie Ferguson, 
Alex
Greve, and Raffi Garabedian, Daniel Lubin-Laden, Abeleiman, Samora
Pinderhoughs and Collin Farner.

4.	Hey, do you ever listen to the bulletin and think "I could do way
better than those losers?"  Well, now’s your chance.  Libby’s moving and
we’re holding auditions for her replacement in C207 today, December 
14th at lunch .

5.	Attention: the Library will open ONLY before and after school and
during lunch time on today, December 14th.  Teachers please do not send
students on passes during class time thank you.

7.	If you need a duplicate ID picture or an ID picture, you need to go 
to
D173 and sign up to take your ID picture.  ID pictures will be taken on
Tuesdays and Thursdays starting next week 12/13, during lunch and after
school.  YOU MUST SIGN UP FIRST IN ORDER TO GET YOUR ID PICTURE TAKEN.
Any questions please see Ms. Cooks in D173.

Clubs
1.	Having sex?  Thinking about having sex?  Come join Condom Club.  
Bring
your lunch and come to G103 on today, Dec. 14th.  Come at lunch
this one time and get a sticker for the back of your ID. Show your ID at
the Health Center and get 12 free condoms every week.  Make sure you 
stock
up for winter break.

2.	Achtung! Achtung!  Come to the German Film today during lunch in 
C115.
We’re watching “Good bye, Lenin” in German with English subtitles.  
Bring
your lunch.

3.	Health Fact:  An alcohol –related motor vehicle crash kills someone
everything 31 minutes and non-fatally injures someone every 2 minutes.
Don’t drink and drive.  Brought to you by the BHS youth Advisory Board.

4.	Do you believe today’s political condition is in dire need of some 
help
and attention?  Come together in the world can’t wait activist club to
work with your peers in solving these issues.  Thursday at lunch in room
C338.

5.	Be sure not to miss this APIC meeting.  Come toG302 this Thursday
during lunch.

6.	The third Berkeley High Student Court trial will be held this 
Thursday,
December 15th at 5:45 p.m. at City Hall.  Students interested in jury 
duty
need to attend a training Trainings are offered Wednesday during 7th
period in C311 and Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall.

7.	Hey Best Buddies!  Come to H106 this week for some Holiday Hot
Chocolate during our regular meeting.

8.	Earphone English at lunch today in C116.  Come get new audio place
earphones and batteries, and get ready for the Winter Break.

Sports
1.	Congratulations to the freshman boy’s basketball team on their first
place finish in the Deer Valley Tourney.  The JV boys placed second in 
the
Foothill Tourney, and the varsity boys placed fourth in the Berkeley
Classic.  BJ Guinn earned all tournament honors in that tourney.

2.	Congratulations to Carole Lee for her all BSAL Girls Golf All League
Honor.

3.	There will be a short meeting of all new and returning swimmers and
divers to get information on our upcoming season.  Meeting will start at
11:40 a.m. sharp and be done by 11:50 a.m.

4.	Congratulations to the following Berkeley Wrestlers on their success 
at
the Foothill Tourney last weekend: Mirko Jurcan placed 1st in the JV
bracket.  Paul Navo placed 2nd in the JV Bracket.  Gabe Jackson placed 
2nd
in Soph Bracket.  Rashad Berkley placed 3rd in the Frosh Bracket.

Senior / Junior Section
1.	SAT/ACT scores- remember that you are required to send official 
scores
to each campus where you are applying.  You can do this by going to 
<www.collegeboard.com>
  for SAT scores and <www.act.org> for ACT scores.  Simply entering your
scores on your application is not sufficient.  You must send official
scores.  To send SAT scores to all CSU campuses and pay only one $9 fee,
use the code 3594 (csumentor).

2.	E-MAIL Reminder – Many colleges communicate with you solely through
e-mail.  Remember to set your spam filters low and check your email,
including your spam folder, at least several times a week.  If you have 
a
yahoo and hotmail account, remember to empty your messages so that your
inbox does not get full and messages are returned to the colleges.

3.	Scholarship- Gates Millennium Scholars Program- open to all low 
income
African American, American Indian/ Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander
American or Hispanic American students who are US citizens or legal
permanent residents. With a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.3.  Applications
available in the College center or



Events/ Performance

1.	African-American Studies Department- Afro-Haitian Dance Program-
December 15, 2005, Berkeley High Community Theater, Allston Way at 7:00
pm.  Tickets: Reserved $10.00, General $7.00, Students $5.00, Children/
seniors $3.00.  All proceeds benefit the African American Studies
Department.  For questions and information please call (510) 644-6759.

2.	Everyone is invited to enjoy the holiday sounds of the Berkeley High
Jazz Lab Band I and II under the direction of Charles Hamilton on 
Friday,
December 16th, 7:30 pm at the Florence Schwimley Little Theatre 
(entrance
on Allston Way).  Doors open at 7p.m.  Delicious food and refreshments
will be available.  Donation is $10.00 for adults, free for students and
BHS staff.  Come support and enjoy the Berkeley High Jazz program!

SALES
.
1.	 Winter Ball tickets are on sale at the Allston Way box office after
school all week.  Tickets are $50.00.  Students must have ID and a
students activities contract on file.

2.	Calendar Sale: Only $5!  An enormous variety of 2006 wall, desk and
page-a day calendars will be sold for the last 2 days this Saturday and
Sunday from noon until 2:00 pm ONLY.  We have sports, travel, spiritual,
art, animal, children’s etc.  These calendars make great gifts.  The
fundraisers for the CAS video program.  Where: 2310 Valley St.  
Berkeley.
Rain or Shine.

3.	December BART tickets are in.  Please pick your tickets by 12/15/05.

4.	Yearbooks are on sale in H102 everyday at lunch and after school.  
They
are $65 dollars until December 16, 2005.  Make checks payable to BHS
yearbooks.
