Administration
1. LOST- A shotgun microphone has been lost! If you found it,
please return it to Mr. Halpern in C327. It has a pistol grip and a
furry windscreen. No questions asked.
Clubs
1. Health Fact of the Week: According to the American Medical
News Journal, 47 million adults in the U.S. are smokers. While most
of the adult smokers in the country say they would like to quit, only
5% manage to do so each year. The teen years are when life-long
habits such as smoking begin. Be aware of the facts, be aware of the
life-long consequences. Brought to you by the BHS Youth Advisory
board.
2. Clubs! Do you want to be in the yearbook? Come to H102
during 7th period to reserve your pages. $25 for a quarter page, $50
for a half-page, and $100 for a full page.
3. If you love watching or performing theater-even if you don't
do it often or even if you've never done it before- you should come
to the monologue club where we'll all enjoy the lovely art of theater
together! Meet Tuesdays at lunchtime in room C221.
4. Reach out and Read club meeting. It's really important you
come! There will be food and lots of important information.
5. Achtung! Achtung! Come to the German Film Club to watch
goodbye, Lenin. The film will be in German with English Subtitles,
everybody's welcome, and bring your lunch to C115 from 11:30 -12:15.
6. Study finds Pittsburgh unprepared for Full Scale zombie
attack!! This and other fake news from "the onion" were turned into
short comedies by Advanced theatre projects and show this week, Wed-
Friday. 2 different but free shows each day.
7. All clubs interested in participating on Club Day should sign
up in room D148. Club Day will be today, December 2nd on the campus
green tables will be provided.
8. Quiz bowl meets today in C315. Come and enjoy! Use your
trivia and academic challenge.
Senior / Junior Section
1. Seniors, it's blood drive time. Come to D148 to sign up to
donate blood at this year's Red Cross blood drive in the jacket gym.
All donors must be at least 17 years old. Blood drive will be held
on Monday, December 5th.
2. Job Opportunity- State Farm insurance on Solano Avenue is
looking for a student to work approximately 8 hours per week.
Schedule is flexible, after school and Saturday hours are available.
They are looking for a minimum one year commitment. Salary: $10-13
depending on experience. For

3. Scholarships-Italian Catholic Federation Scholarship- seniors
who are Catholic and of Italian descent and who have a minimum GPA of
at least 3.2 are eligible. Applications available in D221. $400
scholarship. Deadline: March 15, 2006.
4. UTSA Tennis and Education Foundation- numerous scholarships
for students who play tennis and have financial need, ranging in
value from $500 to $15,000 each. Applications available in D221.
Deadline: February 3, 2006.
Events/ Performance
1. Come check out our award winning Berkeley High School Jazz
Ensemble, Friday, December 2 at 7:30 PM, at the Florence Schwimley
Little Theater, 1929 Allston Way. Both small combos will also
perform sets. Tickets available only at the door, $10 general
admission and are FREE for Berkeley High School students, faculty and
staff. The box office opens at 7:00 PM. This concert will be a
benefit for Hurricane Katrina music fund. Various snacks and foods
will be available before the concert and at
intermission.
2. Come see the orchestra and band on their annual winter
concert Thursday, December 8th at 7:30 PM in the Community Theater.
Hear pieces by Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky. Be there!!!
3. Everyone is invited to enjoy the holiday sounds of the
Berkeley High Jazz Lab Band I and II under the direction of Charles
Hamilton on Friday, December 16, 7:30 PM at the Florence Schwimley
Little Theatre (entrance on Allston Way). Doors open at 7p.m.
Delicious food and refreshments will
be available. Donation is $10.00 for adults, free for students and
BHS staff. Come support and enjoy the Berkeley High Jazz program!
SALES
1. BHS Wearable will be sold Fridays from 3:15-3:45 PM at the
Athletic Directors office, by Donahue Gym. PJ bottoms, hoodie
sweatshirts, t-shirts and sweats. Contact Mary Kay

2. Yearbooks are on sale in H102 everyday at lunch and after
school. They are $65 dollars until December 16, 2005. Make checks
payable to BHS yearbooks.
