Berkeley High School Media Technician

Job Description
(note: this is not a teaching position)

The Berkeley High School Video Program is seeking applicants for a
Media Technician (hours/salary to be determined).
                              
Responsibilities include:
                              
1. Provide technical support to media teachers and students
throughout the day (8am-3:30pm) and for occasional evening/weekend
events.

2. Research, purchase, inventory, and maintain all equipment
including Mini DV camera packages (cameras, microphones, tripods,
lighting, headphones, cables, etc.), MAC computers and media
software; perform minor repairs and prevention maintenance (i.e. be
able to upgrade computer hardware and software, replace sound cards,
firewire ports, etc.); work with the technology department to perform
major repairs and/or send out equipment for repair.

3. Serve as audio-visual technician for Berkeley High School (i.e.
checking out TV carts, video equipment to staff, doing dubs, fixing
equipment, etc).

4. Other technical duties as needed.

Qualifications:

1. B.A./B.S. or technology school equiv. and demonstrated mastery of
media technology including Final Cut Pro 5, I-Movie and Adobe
Premiere and MAC operating systems.

2. Computer proficiency at a level high enough to assure the
successful operation of a program that serves over 500 students daily
and maintains three post production labs with 45 editing stations.

3. Ability to operate digital cameras and associated production
equipment, TVs, VCRs, video projectors, professional audio equipment,
etc. 

4. At least two years experience working with high school students
and teachers (patience, good humor and ability to work quickly and
accurately are essential).

5. Ability to work cooperatively with other staff members and school
personnel is essential.

6. Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, self-directed,
able to meet deadlines.

7. Able to lift at least 50 lbs.

8. Clean record (you will be working with children so fingerprints
and background check will be required at time of hire).

9. References required at interviews.
