Administration
1.	NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH!  STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAY.

2.	The first student council meeting will be today, November 
3rd, in the Little Theater at lunch.  Every second period should 
select two council members to participate.

3.	Cody's Books School Benefit Daze: Friday- Monday, November 
11-14, 2005.  25% of the proceeds of your purchases at Cody's during 
this four day event will be contributed to Berkeley High.  Shop (2 
Berkeley locations) at 2454 Telegraph Ave, and 1730 Fourth Street; 1 
San Francisco location-2
Stockton Street at Market. Just save your receipts and mail them to:

4.	If you are taking an SAT Language Test this Saturday, Nov. 5, 
please remember to bring a CD player with earphones.  If you don't 
have the equipment, you will not be able to take your language test.

5.	 An International High School at BHS?  You read about it in 
the Jacket.  Now find out more!  Jim Slemp and Rory Bled will explain 
the proposal and answer questions on Monday, Nov. 7th at 7 PM in the 
College and CareerCenter.


Clubs
1.	The few, the proud, ITP's:  Informational meetings November 
9, 10th and 16th in room C213 at lunch.

2.	The Berkeley High Pirate Club invites you to its first 
meeting, today at lunch in room C217.  Come one, come all, to the 
Pirate club!

3.	Sophomores!  Interested in going somewhere new for your 
junior year?  Come to the SLC 4th period today.  A presenter from the 
Mountain school will be doing a slideshow.  Come learn about a 
wonderful opportunity.

4.	Calling all poets!  Enter the poets stomping smoking poetry 
contest.  Write a poem, rap or flow to express the truth about 
smoking.  Use your inner creativity to educate your peers, combat 
youth smoking and expose tobacco industry lies, exploitation and 
social injustice.  Cool prizes, including $50 cash grand prize!  Pick 
up a submission form from the door of G202 and submit your entry by 
November 9th.  Poetry reading/Awards reception on November 17th at 
7:00 pm at the Hall of Health.  All are welcome.

5.	Come to the Jewish Student Union!  Tuesday, November 7th in 
A105 at lunch.

6.	Come to an informative APIC meeting in room G302 today at lunch.


Sports
1.	All BHS Boys who want to tryout for basketball come to a 
meeting in the Old Gym Social Hall on Tuesday at 3:30 PM.  If your 
forms are complete, you can turn them in to Coach Mike Gragnani at 
that time.

2.	BHS crew:  looking for a spring sport?  The BHS crew team 
needs additional novice rowers, for men's and women's crew, to fill 
out the team roster.  Rowers are conditioning over the winter in 
preparation for the spring race season.  No previous rowing 
experience required!  Contact
Coach Chris Dadd at 925-676-8025.

3.	A short informational meeting will be held I the Athletic 
Office on Thursday, November 3rd at lunch for anyone interested in 
joining the Wrestling Team.  Complete athletic packets must be turned 
in by November 7th.


Senior / Junior Section
1.	Do you need help filling out your Cal State or UC 
application?  Come to a workshop to help you fill out these 
applications.  UC/CSU application workshops- in the library computer 
lab.  Sign up in D221.   Monday, November 7, and Wednesday, November 
16, at 3:30 PM.

2.	Seniors- If you are applying to any private schools which 
require counselor recommendations, your large envelopes addressed to 
each college along with a Transcript request Form and the Counselor 
Recommendation Form (also called the school report form), are due in 
the College/ Career Center no later than November 10th.  See Mrs. 
Abrams or Mrs. Harris in D221.

3.	Miss Teen Chinatown Scholarship.  Applicants must submit a 
recent photo, official transcript and application.  Applications are 
available in D221.  For more information, go to:

4.	Don and Roy Splawn Charitable Foundation West.  Award: up to 
$1,000 based on financial need, academic qualifications, dedication 
to school, community and family, and extraordinary circumstances. 
Based primarily on overcoming personal challenges.  Apply online at:

5.	Seniors!  Spots are still available for poll workers for the 
special election on November 8th.  Applications are available in 
D148.  Must be at least 16 years of age and a senior.

Events/ Performance
1.	Come to the BHS Poetry Slam: Tuesday, November 8, at 7PM in 
room G210.  Again, it is $1 to get in.  Poets who want to perform can 
start to sign up at 6:30 PM.  Judges are taken from the audience.  We 
go through one round of 20 poets, and then the top 3 to 5 contestants 
go to a second round.  Poem time limit: 3 minutes.

2.	The Berkeley High website is having a photo contest! Have 
your featured photo on the homepage, which receives 20 thousand 
visitors a month! Submissions will be accepted through November 18th. 
15 photos will be chosen and the  winners will be notified. Visit the

  3.               Sweeney Todd is coming!  Halloween will not be
