STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
1.	Are you interested in being a part of Site Council or Shared
Governance?  Come to our informational meeting, Thursday 9/22 at 4:30
Conference room B.  Learn about what Site Council is and we will assign
representatives and  alternates.

2.	Student Proctors needed in C134 periods 1 and/or 2.

3.	Due to overwhelming student input, confirmation by the class officers
and an official vote by the ASB spirit week will be moved to October 19th
through the 21st.  Please listen for further announcements about the
spirit days and events.

4.	If you are in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade and you are interested in
participating in California Scholarships Federation, please come to a
mandatory informational meeting on September 23rd at lunch in the SLC.

5.	JOB INFORMATION:  Student needed to do filing and other clerical work
one afternoon each week in a small architectural office in South Berkeley,
near Alcatraz and Adeline streets.  Salary: $8/ hour.  Contact Carol Reis
at 510-547-3536.

Clubs

1.	Chicano/ Latino graduation 2006 meeting 
on Wednesday, 9/21 in room G111.

2.	Earphone English Club- First meeting of the year is this Wednesday at
lunch in C116.  We have lots of audio-books, players and batteries, weekly
discussions at lunch, and possible extra-credit.

3.	Want to meet new people and plan an event for the community?  Then come
to the 1st Asian Pacific Islander committee meeting in room C333,
Thursday, September 22nd at lunch.  There will be games and candy.  Just
bring yourself.

4.	Are you interested in joining an ultimate Frisbee club?  Playing a new
sport, getting in great shape and even playing against other clubs?  Come
to an informational meeting on Thursday, September 29th at lunch in Mr.
Fike's classroom in the old gym.

5.	Come join us in discussing world issues through another country's eyes
at Model United Nations Club on Thursday at lunch in room C334.

6.	Achtung!  Welcome to the German Film Club.  We're meeting during
lunchtime in C115 to see the movie Run Lola Run.  This will be a regular
Wednesday event and everybody is welcome!  The movie will be in German
with English subtitles.  Tschus!

7.	The BSU invites our new students from New Orleans and other areas
impacted by Hurricane Katrina to join us for a welcome luncheon in H214.

8.	The wait is over
Condom Club is back.  Bring your lunch and come to
classroom G103 on Wednesday, September 28th to join.  Come once and get a
sticker for the back of your student ID.  Show your Id at the Health
Center and receive 12 free CONDOMS a week. Free food at the meeting.

9.	Thursday in D218 at lunch Josh Garen BHS's debate coach the National
State Champion in Team Debate and UCB Champion debater (on a full debate
scholarship) starts the Debate Team on the national topic.  Come and learn
the fundamentals of Debate.

10.	Are you interested in learning about different cultures or learning
new languages?  Come join the Language and Culture exchange club.  Make
friends with students from all over the world and teach them about your
culture.  Our first meeting will be Thursday, 
September 22 at lunchtime in C105.


Senior / Junior Section
1.	PSAT SIGN UP INFORMATION.  We will take sign-ups September 21 through
September 30 during lunch and after school until 4:00PM at the D building
ticket window on Allston.  The cost is $22, cash or money order only.
Money orders should be made payable to Berkeley High.

2.	Wednesday, September 21st is the first day to sign up for individual
appointments with  college Advisors Ms. Abrams or Mr. Stringfellow in the
College/ Career  beginning at 8:00 AM.  Some classes were told that the
first date to sign up was Tuesday, September 20th.  The date was moved due
to a change in the English class presentation schedule.

3.	Sign ups are based on where you are considering applying to college:
1.	If students are applying only to UC’s and/ or Cal States, they should
sign up to meet with Mr. Stringfellow.
2.	If students are considering applying to any private , out of state
public, or California community colleges (even if they are also applying
to some UC’s and /or Cal states), they should sign up for an appointment
with Ms. Abrams.  You can only meet with one counselor, not both, Mrs.
Abrams and Mr. Stringfellow.  Drop ins available at lunch.

4.	Seniors – College Representative visits are starting.  The complete
September lists are available in D221.

Events/ Performance
1.	Come celebrate peace at the park on Wednesday after school for the
United Nations International Day of Peace from 4pm – 8 pm.  Starting at 4,
there will be youth activities (like Origami, peace Balloons, Peace Flag
Making).  It’ll be a lot of fun.  Ask your teacher today if they’ll offer
extra credit for you to attend.  For more information, call Councilmember
Worthington’s office at 981-7170.

2.	This Thursday, the 22nd of September, come join the Middle Earth
Society in celebrating the birthday of Bilbo and Frodo Boggins!  This long
expected party will take place in Mr. Fong’s room, G305 at lunch.  The
feast will be provided.
