Administration

1.	Mr. Juarez needs Spanish Proctors.  Please see him in C127.

2.	PICTURE ID’s MAKEUP- September 20th at lunch in the foyer of the 
community theatre.

3.	SPIRIT WEEK for fall 2005 will begin October 31 and will be a four 
day event since there is no school that Friday.  On Saturday, Nov. 5, 
the
Homecoming game against Encinal High and our Homecoming dance will 
occur. If you have any thoughts about there plans, please submit a 
written response to the leadership office in the main office by Friday, 
September 16th.

4.	JOB INFORMATION – Student needed to do filing and other clerical 
work one afternoon each week in a small architectural office in South 
Berkeley, near Alcatraz and Adeline streets.  Salary: $8/ hour.

Clubs
1.	Youth for Christ is back!  The first Youth for Christ meeting is 
this Friday in G201.  Come meet new people and share faith!  Everyone 
is welcome.

2.	Chicano/ Latino graduation 2006 meeting on Wednesday, 9/21 in room 
G111.

3.	Are you interested in learning about different cultures or learning 
new languages?  Come join the Language and Culture Exchange Club.  Make 
friends with students from all over the world and teach them about your 
culture.  Our first meeting will be Thursday, September 22 at lunchtime 
in C105.

Sports

1.	All boys interested in playing lacrosse should come to an 
informational meeting on Tuesday, 9/20 on the east side bleachers at 
3:45.  In case of rain, check the athletic door for new location.

2.	All those interested in running TRACK & FIELD  in the spring should 
come to an informational meeting on Tuesday, 9/20, on the east side
bleachers at 4:30 pm.  In case of rain, check the athletic door for new 
location. THIS IS NOT TRYOUTS.

4.	All interested students interested in the Crew Team – come to the 
Back to Crew POTLUCK Picnic and Open House on Sunday, September 18 from 
12-3 pm,
Estuary Park at Jack London Aquatic Center, Oakland.  Meet the crew 
team members and their families, meet and talk with the coaches, see 
inside the boathouse, and the boats!

Senior / Junior Section
1.	College Fair- Sunday, September 18, 10:00 – 3:00pm at JF Kennedy 
High School, 4300 Cutting Blvd.  Richmond, CA.  Many historically Black 
Colleges and Universities, UC Berkeley, Los Angeles, San Diego, 
Riverside, San Francisco State, Sonoma State and many more.  If you 
have a 2.0 or above, bring several copies of your transcript and test 
scores and you can talk one on one with official college admissions 
representatives.

2.	PSAT SIGN UP INFORMATION- We will take sign-ups September 21 through 
September 30 during lunch and after school until 4:00 pm at the D 
building ticket window on Allston.  The cost is $22, cash or money 
order only. Money orders should be made payable to Berkeley High.

3.	Scholarships- Sinkler Miller Medical Association High School
Scholarship Application - Scholarship for African American students. 
Pick
up an application in the College Career Center.  Deadline- September 27.

4.	Ron Brown Scholar Program.  Academically talented, highly motivated 
African- American students who are seniors and plan to pursue 
undergraduate degrees full-time who are US citizens or permanent 
residents.  Scholarship is $10,000 per year for four years.  Apply 
October 1 to November 15.  Applications in D221 or at www.ronbrown.org.

5.	Seniors - College Representative visits are starting.  The complete 
September lists are available in D221.
