Administration
1.	The Berkeley High School Site Council will meet on Monday, June 13, 
2005 from 4:30 – 6:00 pm in the school library.  On the agenda are the 
advanced placement program, attendance, safety and discipline, and 
procedures for electing BHS School Site Council parent and student 
representatives. All representatives and alternates should attend, and 
anyone interested is welcome.  For more information go to

2.	If you have not picked up your work permits that have been turned in 
by June 17th, they will be voided.

3.	Attention all Sophomores and Juniors who enrolled in AP Language and 
Composition for the Fall 05.  Please visit Mr. Miller C217, Mr. Carton 
C213, or Mrs. Z C220 and pick up your copy of the summer assignment!  
See you!

4.	JOBS-Retired UC Berkeley math professor is looking for a student who 
can drive him (in his car) locally to appointments and on errands, as 
well as help with office work.  If you are interested, send a note to 
Dr. Lester Dubins at 1626 Spruce St., Berkeley, CA  94709.

5.	JOBS-Local Color, a greeting card business, is looking for clerical 
help, 15- 20 hours per week, $10 per hour.  The hours are flexible.  
Must have a car, located in the Oakland Hills.  For more information 
contact Steve Jenner at 547-3107.

Clubs
1.	Hey Chess players!  The Chess Club is back for one final meeting 
today, Thursday in C125 from 3:15 – 5 pm.  Come by and see if those 
skills are still there.

2.	Next years spring musical is “Bat Boy.” if you have any questions 
about this phenomenal Rock Rap and Just Plain Strange Show, see Mr. 
Winer in A203.

Sports
1.	Attention Badminton players:  June 25, 2005   BBQ/ Swim Party 
-Badminton players BBQ money due today.  $7.00 per person.  Guests must 
pay.  Please attend a mandatory meeting in the conference room next to 
the BHS library at lunch!

Senior / Junior Section
1.	Black Staff and Faculty Organization Scholarship – A limited number 
of Scholarships for higher education are being offered to graduating 
Bay Area high school seniors who will be continuing their education at 
a community college or university (public or private sector).  
Scholarships are awarded for the academic year following high school 
graduation.  The amount awarded ranges from $250 to $1000.  Must be 
African American with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and activities in leadership 
and or service. Applications in the College/Career center.  Deadline is 
June 10th.

2.	Tonight, June 10th at 7:00 pm,  the Award winning BHS Jazz Ensemble 
and its top-ranked combos, as well as the Lab Band and its combo, will 
play their final concert of the year at the Little Theater on Allston 
way. Dinner-pizza, sandwiches, drinks, and baked goods will be 
available. General admission – is $10, ½ price for 12 and under and 
FREE for BUSD faculty, students and staff.  A big thank you to the 
community for all its support.

Events/ Performance
1.	Would you like to participate in the Vagina Monologues, but you 
don’t want to be on stage?  Join the "Summer Vagina Crew," a group that 
will plan special events to raise money for the 2006 Vagina Monologue.  
Everyone’s invited, bring fundraising ideas.  Vagina-friendly men are 
welcome too. MONDAY, June 13th at lunch in A205.

Sales
1.  Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week will be your last 
chance to buy and pick up your yearbook.  We will not be selling or 
handing out yearbooks during finals week, so be sure to get one this 
week!  Come to the community theater steps at lunch.
