STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
1.	Student Body Elections will take place in your 3rd period classes, 
Monday (June 6) through Thursday (June 9).  So be in class and vote for 
next year’s student body government officers.  Represent your voice and 
vote!

2.	If you have lost your keys today, see Ruby Taylor.

3.	Calling all BHS students: If you are interested in law and would 
like experience in this field, or if you would like to have a positive 
and lasting influence on the BHS community- Student Court is the class 
for you.  Next year students will be able to make an impact on the 
discipline system and cut down on suspensions.  It will be a 7th period 
class. Everyone that participates will receive leadership class credit. 
Applications can be picked up at H201.  We are hoping to have a class 
that is representative of our school, and all are encouraged to apply.

Clubs
1.	Hey Chess players!  The Chess Club is back for one final meeting 
this Thursday in C125 from 3:15 – 5 pm.  Come by and see if those 
skills are still there.

2.	Next years Spring musical is “Bat Boy.” if you have any questions 
about this phenomenal Rock-Rap-and-Just-Plain-Strange show, see Mr. 
Winer in
A203.

Sports
1.	All students interested in running cross country next Fall need to 
come to an informational meeting at lunch in G105 on Wednesday, June 
18th.


	
Senior / Junior Section
1.	Black Staff and Faculty Organization Scholarship – A limited number 
of Scholarships for higher education are being offered to graduating 
Bay Area high school seniors who will be continuing their education at 
a community college or university (public or private sector).  
Scholarships are awarded for the academic year following high school 
graduation.  The amount awarded ranges from $250 to $1000.  Must be 
African American with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and activities in leadership 
and or service. Applications in the College/Career center.  Deadline is 
June 10th.

2.	Seniors, do you want your plans for next year to be listed in the 
Senior edition of the Jacket?  If so, make sure and turn in the Senior 
Exit report to the College Center by June 8th.

3.	On Friday, June 10th at 7:00 pm the Award winning BHS Jazz Ensemble 
and its top-ranked combos, as well as the lab Band and its combo, will 
play their final concert of the year at the Little Theater on Allston 
way. Dinner-pizza, sandwiches, drinks, and baked goods will be 
available. General admission – is $10, ½ price for 12 and under and 
FREE for BUSD faculty, students and staff.  A big thank you to the 
community for all its support.

4.	Juniors- The Junior Summer To Do list is now available in the 
College/ Career Center.  Pick up your copy so that you can get some of 
your college preparation done over the summer, which will make your 
senior year much easier.

5.	Seniors- Vista College has a new major- the Global Studies Program. 
Get an AA degree that prepares you to transfer to many UC and CSU 
programs;  For more information contact Joan Berezin at 981-2884 or

Events/ Performance
1.	Berkeley High School Concert Chorale Spring Concert- Wednesday, June 
8th.  7:30 pm in the Little Theater.

2.	The Last Chamber Music Concert of the year is on Thursday, June 9th 
at 7:30 pm in the Little Theater.  This free concert is presented by 
Berkeley High Band and Orchestra.

3.	Performing Arts Award Ceremony – Come celebrate our finest SENIORS 
in drama, dance, and music as they receive awards for their work.  To 
see the list of award winners, check the bulletin board on the ground 
floor of the A building.
