STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN
May 19, 2005
Administration
1. The Berkeley High School Site Council will meet on Monday, May 23,
2005 from 4:30 to 6:00 pm, in the school library. On the agenda are
fees from student clubs for school accountant; the Tenth Grade
Counseling program; and the new site plan. All representatives and
alternates should attend, and anyone interested is welcome. Contact

2. CAREER FAIR TODAY! 11:30 am to 5:00 pm! Sign up for various
workshops: Dress for Success; Lunchtime in D224 and 4th and 5th periods
in the College/Career Center. Resumes for your Future: 4th period,
D224. Making Colleges and Career Count- information on financial aid,
scholarships and more. 5th period in G210. The winning Interview-You
got the job! 4th and 6th periods in G210.
3. On Wednesday, May 25th: In order to accommodate the large number of
teachers, students, parents, and classified employees who plan to
attend the Coalition Rally for Education in Sacramento. There will be
a ONE DAY schedule:
Period 1 8:30 – 9:15
Period 2 9:21 – 10:11
Period 3 10:17 - 11:02
Period 4 11:08 – 11:53
LUNCH 11:53 – 12:33
Period 5 12:39 – 1:24
Period 6 1:30 – 2:15
4. Summer School applications are in the Counseling reception area-
D141. Please sign up early to reserve a space. Deadline is May 20th.
5. BART tickets are here! Please pick up your tickets. Next Bart
ticket orders will be taken May 31. This is the last BART order for
the year.
Clubs
1. All Best Buddies members: Please come to our chapter meeting on
Thursday, May 19th at lunch! We will be talking about a group lunch
field trip and a bake sale.
2. Attention ladies of BHS: "Speak on It" is coming to an end. Come
to the final Spring 2005 meeting on Thursday, May 19th, at lunch in the
Admin. Conference Room B. See ya there!
3. All Asian and Pacific Islander Committee members: It’s time to have
our weekly meetings again. Due to AP testing and Golden State exam we
had to delay. Come to this Thursday’s meeting to meet your new team
leaders and co-chair. Food will be provided.
4. Free hypnosis to help smokers quit! If you are interested in
quitting smoking once and for all, stop by the booth in the park during
lunch on Friday, May 20th to get hypnotized and / or pick up a quit
kit. Hypnosis can help break the addiction of smoking!
Parent/guardian permission is required to be hypnotized; permission
slips are posted on the door of G202. Bring signed permission forms to
the park on Friday. Contact Tricia Brazil @ 644-8987 for more
information.
Sports
1. All track athletes: Turn in your track uniform by Thursday to Coach
Darryl ort Coach Humphrey. Athletes who do not turn in their gear will
go on the athlete debt list and will risk many end-of-year privileges.
2. Attention Badminton team: Those players going to North Coast should
arrive at BHS at 6:45 am in front of the old gym. Any other players
that wish to attend should be advised of a fee to enter and must check
in with coach beforehand.
Senior / Junior Section
1. Seniors- Kaiser Permanente Latino Association Scholarship Program
(KPLA)- To be eligible, you must be a senior of Latino heritage
graduating in spring 2005, minimum GPA of 2.5, with career goals in any
Allied Health Care major including indirect services such as business,
HR,IT, marketing in health care. $2,000 scholarship.
2. Juniors- the new UC eligibility index is now available. You can

3. Are you 17? Wanna save a life or even 3? Well, come donate blood
on June 3. Sign ups are in the courtyard on May 24-26, Tuesday thru
Thursday at lunch.
4. Refunds for the Senior trip can be picked up from the Community
Theatre Box Office at lunch Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please have your
receipt and ID. The Senior trip is cancelled.
5. Sophomores and juniors- Practice SAT test at Berkeley High School on
Saturday, May 21, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm. Cost $15. Fee waivers
available.
Sign up in the College Career Center no later than May 18th.
Events/ Performance
1. The BHS film festival is moved to Tuesday, June 7. 6th Annual
Berkeley
High School Film Festival will take place at the Little Theater. 6-7 pm
Refreshments/ ticket and raffle sales. 7pm Show and Raffle. The
festival
will feature documentary, fiction, and experimental works from students
at
BHS and throughout the Berkeley Unified School District.
2. Advanced Theatre Projects presents the “Creaky Floor One Acts”. 3
nights of wild and wacky short plays in the Drama Room, A203. These
performances are free. Shows are at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, Thursday, and
Friday. All plays are student directed.
Sales
1. Yearbooks are $70 now! Get them in H102 at lunch on Tuesday and
Thursdays.
Zero period Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
3. BHS Tsunami Relief group is having another bake sale at lunch, May
26th.
