Administration

1.	STAR Testing begins tomorrow (Tuesday)!
Testing schedule for TUESDAY!

2:33 – 3:15  Period 3

* Seniors come to school at 12:56

2.	Checks are ready to be picked up for overpaid AP test fees.  Please see
Mrs. Reed in room D173.

3. Student Body Government elections are coming up!  Applications for all
offices are available starting today in C406.  All applications are due
May 4th by 4:00 p.m.

4. Come one come all to the 1st BHS Family Day Picnic.  April 30th!  There
will be jumpers for kids and lots of games for everyone.  Bring your
baskets and come enjoy.  11- 3pm.  This will be one event to remember!

5. April is Alcohol awareness month.  Alcohol is by far the most widely
used substance across grades in the BUSD.  Come to the park on Friday to
learn more about what you’re drinking.  Open mic and Double Dutch contest
during lunch- great prizes!  Music by KMEL.  Questions call Candace at
510-981-5337.

6. JOB opportunity- city of El Cerrito recreation jobs for students ages
16-19 as counselors, assistant counselors and lifeguards.  For more
information, call 510-5597002 or 7006.  Pay range: $7.37 to $13.99.
Clubs

Sports

1. Summer is the best time to schedule your athletic physical for next
year’s participation.  You have to have one every year!  Pick up a packet
in the Athletic Office and you’ll be ready for the August 15 start of
football and the August 22 start of girls volleyball, girls tennis, girls
golf, boys and girls waterpolo, cross country, and girls field hockey.

2. The Varsity Baseball team plays at Cal Berkeley’s Evans Diamond versus
De Anza on Friday, April 29 at 3:30 pm.  Come on up and support the team!
Senior / Junior Section

Seniors/Juniors

1. Seniors!  Would you like to speak, dance, or perform at Graduation?
Sign up with Ruby Taylor in the admin office anytime between April 25- May
6th.  Auditions will be held on May 11th with Mr. Slemp.

2. Royalty applications due April 29th by 4:00 pm.  Pick up the form at
Mrs. McKnight-Johnson’s door (C406).

3. For Juniors- We have just received the new pamphlet put out by the
University of California called “Introducing the University”.  It contains
valuable information on admissions statistics for each campus, majors
offered by each campus, application information and much more.  Come by
the College Center to pick up your copy.

4. For seniors- Are you UC eligible, applied to a UC, but were not
accepted to any campus?  Good news!  You will be receiving a letter soon
stating that you have been accepted to UC Merced.  In addition, if you
applied as an engineering major, you will be receiving a letter stating
that you have been accepted to UC Riverside.  Congratulations!  If you do
not receive a letter, stop by the College Career Center.

5. Scholarships:  Outstanding Chinese American Student Award- Recipient
must be available on June 26 at the awards dinner to accept the award.
Application and essay.  Deadline: April 30.

6. Seniors- this is your chance to be recognized!  The Senior Awards
Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 24 at 7:00 pm in the Community
Theater.  Pick up the Senior Awards ceremony form in the College/Career
Center and let us know about scholarships, awards and honors you have won.
 Deadline: Wednesday, May 11, so you can be listed in the program.

7. Dear Seniors- Now that you have heard from the colleges of your choice,
we hope that you will consider submitting your personal college essay for
possible publication in the Berkeley High Book of College Essays.”
Profits from the book will be used to help future BHS students in college
application process.  You can email your essay to Janet Huseby at [

Harris in the college center.

Events/ Performance

1. College Fair – April 30, 1:00 to 4:30 – College Fair at St, Mary’s
College of California, Moraga.  This is the biggest college fair of the
year, with over 150 colleges represented.  There will also be workshops on
admissions, financial aid, athletics, Black colleges, and some Spanish.
Take BART to Orinda and catch the shuttle to the fair! Don’t miss this!

2. How do you feel about classical music?  Love it? Well then come see the
Berkeley High Band and Orchestra Spring concert on Thursday, April 28th in
the Community Theatre.  Even if you don’t love classical, we might just
change your mind.  Admission free and concert starts at 7:30 pm.  Be there
or be square; we’ll be featuring fast paced pieces by Shubert and Telemann
sure to excite.

Sales

1. Express Tuxedo will be here Wednesday at lunch.  All tuxedos will be
$89.99.  Feel free to call 1(415)971-3805.

2. Sr. Prom tickets are on sale,  Wednesday and Friday at the
Allston Way box office.  Tickets are $70.

3.Bart tickets go on sale again - April 28th and 29th at lunchtime in
D148.  The Bart tickets are $16.00.
