STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
1. AP EXAMS: You can register for AP exams. Students can register at
the D building ticket window on Allston Way during lunch and after
school from
3:30 pm to 4:00 pm daily through Friday, March 25th. The fee per test
is $95. Tests are the first two weeks in May. For more questions
contact
Rory Bled or Benette Williams.
2. Next year there will be two sections of Jazz Lab Band for interested
musicians. Mr. Hamilton will add a Jazz Band II class for advanced and
more experienced musicians. If you are interested in auditioning for
this class please come on the following days:
Trumpets and Trombones …………….Today, March 15th 3:30 pm
Bass, Guitars, Drums, Pianos, and Saxophones …..Thursday, March 17th
3:30 pm
3. 10th graders- don’t forget that you need to take the California High
School Exit Exam today, March 15 and Wednesday, March 16. You have to
pass this test in order to graduate from high school in California.
You must arrive at the Old Gym on Milvia Street at 7:30 am each day.
You should bring number 2 pencils and a photo Id. Calculators and
scratch paper are not allowed. Make sure to get lots of rest before
each test and eat a good breakfast.
4. Bart Tickets are here for pick up- Lunchtime in D148. Please check
the Parent Center for lost items as glasses, keys, and jackets.
Clubs
1. The Berkeley High Student Tech Crew needs new crew members! Come to
the meeting in Mr. Winer’s room A203 at lunch today, March 15th. No
prior
experience is necessary.
2. Quiz bowl practice tomorrow, March 16th at lunch in C316.
3. Have you ever considered joining the military? Been approached by a
military recruiter? Do you know what rights you have if a military
draft
is reinstated? On Wednesday, March 23rd, the CAS Social-Action
committee will host a teach in during 2nd through 5th periods in the
Little Theater.
Experts from the community will present their experiences and answer
your questions. 2nd period will feature a slide show given by a
returned
soldier from Iraq. 3rd period is a panel discussion about military
recruitment. The 4th period panel will explain your rights and
responsibilities if a draft is reinstated. And 5th period will feature
registered conscientious objectors. Students, tell your teachers to
bring
your class! Teachers, mark your calendars and look for a sign up sheet
in your boxes! For more information go to room C324.
Sports
1. All JV and frosh-soph soccer players need to turn in their uniforms,
warm ups and bags as quickly as possible to Mr. Juarez in room C127.
2. The Varsity soccer picture will be taken after school at 3:45 pm on
the Astroturf on Wednesday, March 16. You may pick up photo order
forms from
Mr. Juarez in C127. Please bring both jerseys and warm-ups for the
photo session as well as your bags so we can check in all of the
equipment immediately after the photo session.
3. Attention all 04-05 JV girls Volleyball Players – Your sweatshirt
order has arrived. Bring a check for $37 made out to BAF to the
Athletic Office
on Thursday at lunch to pick up your order.
4. Congratulations to the boys and girls basketball teams on their
successful seasons. The boys brought home the Division I NCS title for
the first time since 1978 and the girls continued their longstanding
success qualifying for the Norcal Division playoffs yet again. The
following individuals brought home All League honors: League MVP: Dior
Lowhorn; 1st Team All League: Alexandria Mitchell, Danesha Wright, and
Dior Lowhorn; 2nd team all league: Jennifer Gross, Duane BAgsby, and
Robertr Mitchel; Honorable mention: Jasmine Perkins.

Senior / Junior Section
1. Seniors-time is running out. The cap and gown ordering period is
almost over. All orders need to be placed by March 25th. Contact
Jostens
right away at 1-408-426-6083.
2. Job Corps presentation on Tuesday, March 15 at 10 am. Don’t miss
this great career opportunity! Job Corps center is a great to complete
an
education, learn a marketable trade, make lifetime friends and graduate
with a good job in hand. The Job Corps offers full time, year round
skills training from admissions through job placement all completely
free of charge: On campus housing, Nutritious meals, counseling, books
and work clothing, job placement assistance, basic medical and dental
services.
3. College visits:
Wednesday, March 16th, 9:30 am. - Cal Poly San Luis Obispo- for
admitted seniors and juniors who are interested in the
school.
hursday, March 17th at 2:20 pm - Prescott College, Arizona Sign up in
the College Center. This is an excellent school
for students who are interested in learning by doing in
interdisciplinary small classes? as well as field studies. The school
stresses individualized
and self- directed studies. Majors include human development,
ecopsychology, and many more.
Events/ Performance
1. Wednesday, March 23, 2005- BHS Poetry Slam! Slam: 7:00 pm room
G210. $1 donation at the door will cover prize. Sign up to read, 6:30
pm. Have
two poems ready in case you make round 2.
2. Health and Wellness Fair: Thursday, April 21st. 8:30 am – 4:00
pm. (1st period through 7th period). Between the Community Theater and
the C
Building. Come participate in health-related games and activities!
The Sugar Challenge. Free Smoothie Samples, Nutrient Rich Food
Samples,
Mobile Boulder wall, Blood Pressure Testing, give aways and prizes.

Sales
1. Adv. ROP Photo is having a bake sale today, March 15th on the steps
of the Community Theater at lunch. Stop by and get some goodies!
2. Seniors! Deposit #1 is being collected for the Senior Trip at lunch
everyday until March 15th. Deposits are $65.00 and must be paid in
money order only! Make Money orders payable to Distinguished Charters.
3. Yearbooks are currently on sale for $65.00! They can be bought in
H102 in the morning before 8:15 a.m. or at lunch on Tuesdays and
Thursdays.
Prices will go up one more time before the end of the year so get them
now! We are also soliciting advertisements for the 2004/2005 yearbook,
ads are $60.00 ¼ page, $100 ½ page, $200 full page.
