Last night at Stanford University, Berkeley High Head Girls Lacrosse Coach
Rebecca Meyer was awarded a Positive Coaching Alliance "Double Goal Coach"
National Coaches award. Nadia Comeneci presented her with the award.
Other presenters and speakers included Jennifer Azzi, Bart Conner, Kerri
Strug, ESPN Announcer Kyle Peterson, and the PCA's National Spokesperson
Phil Jackson. Rebecca was nominated for the award by former BHS Lacrosse
player Meredith Gaber.

The "Double Goal" coach wants to win, but not at the expense of a second
more important goal of using sports to teach life lessons. These coaches
teach and exemplify "Honoring the Game," they "Fill the Emotional Tanks,"
of their athletes and they "Redefine 'Winner'" in terms of mastery rather
than only looking at the scoreboard. It is the right way to approach
educational athletics.

Congratulations to Rebecca and thank you to all of you who model and teach
these ideals to our student athletes.
