STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN
March 2, 2005
Administration
1. BSEP APPLICATIONS are here! See Belinda McDaniel in the Admin
office.
2. TODAY is a late start day. Students begin school at 10:00 am.
3. Need help with an assignment? Writer’s Cafe is open in H102 at
lunchtime Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11:35 am to 12:15 pm. We offer
one on one coaching to help you complete your writing assignments. We
can help you brainstorm ideas, organize your material, or refine your
rough draft. Come and see us today. Snacks are included.
4. Biotech applications are due Friday. Please turn them in to G304 or
G305.
5. Do you like Science? Do you want a paid summer internship at
Biotech companies like Bayer and Chiron? Do you like working with
hi-tech equipment? If you’re a Sophomore, apply for the Biotech
Program and sign
up for the Biotech class. Pick up an application from Mr. Fong in G305
or Dr. Stone in G304. Applications due this Friday, March 4th.
Clubs
1. The Berkeley High Snowboard Club is planning a trip to Sugar Bowl
for March 12th. No experience is necessary! Just come and have fun.
Come to room C2333 anytime to pick up trip forms and info. Official
club meetings are every Wednesday at lunch in room C233.
2. Good Grief! Feeling angry, confused or sad after loosing someone
special? Come to a support group on Mondays at lunch in D
building-conference room B. Lunch will be provided.
3. Peer Buddies at BHS! Best Buddies is having a training at lunch on
Thursday 3/3/05 in H106. Please come to learn about relating to
special education students as well as upcoming club events.
4. Do you think 16 year olds deserve the right to vote? Do you have
any concerns pertaining to youth rights? Join the Berkeley chapter of
the National Youth Rights Association, Thursdays at lunch in room H208.

5. Club Reps Club Commissioners meeting, Thursday at lunch in C406.
Please attend order to be eligible for monthly fundraisers and events.
Don’t forget your club rosters.
Sports
1. The girls and boys basketball teams advance to the Division I North
Coast Section tournament. The girls face Newark Memorial on Tuesday at
7:30 in the Donahue. The boys face Foothill on Wednesday at 7:30 in
the
Donahue. Tickets are $5/$8 – no passes accepted. Winners will advance
to the semifinal on Friday night. Go Jackets!
Senior / Junior Section
1. College visits: March 2
10:45 am Presentation on COSMOS,
California State Summer School for Math and Science. Four week
summerprograms at UC campuses. Students live in supervised dorms.
Open to students in grades 9-12. Approximately one-third of students
receive full
financial aid. Sign up in the College Career Center.

Events/ Performance
1. BHS students, survey are being taken in room D148 at lunchtime on
Tuesday for students to let AC transit know that they are interested in
reduced or free AC bus passes during school hours. This campaign, if
successful can lead to reduced fare or free AC passes for youth.
2. The powerhouse BHS Jazz Ensemble, Lab Band and award –winning small
combos perform at the Berkeley Repertory Theater on Sunday, March 13th
from 11:30 am – 3:00 pm in a benefit for the BHS music program that
will help support a DOUBLING in the number of students in the jazz
program. Attendees will sip wine, feast on a lunch prepared by Poulet
and bid on exquisite items at a silent auction. For two years in a row
the Jazz Ensemble has been ranked the top high school band nationwide
at eh Monterey Jazz festival competition. Tickets are $40 general
admission, $25 12 and under, and $75 for community patrons. For
tickets contact Lori Ferguson at 527-8245.
3. Come join the Modern Renaissance! Enrollment is now open for
California’s quintessential knighthood Training program: A Hard Days’
Knight. Learn the martial combat skills and creative arts of the
modern
knighthood. Appropriate for the Adventurous 15-21 year old. Come

Sales
1. Junior Prom tickets go on sale Thursday, March 3 in the Community
Theater Box Office. Tickets are $40 this week and will go up. You
must have turned in your activities contract or hand them in when you
buy your
ticket. Have your ID and cash ready at hand. If you would like to
bring a guest, please get a guest contract at C406.
2. Seniors! Deposit #1 is being collected for the Senior Trip at lunch
everyday until March 15th. Deposits are $65.00 and must be paid in
money order only! Make Money orders payable to Distinguished Charters.
3. Yearbooks are currently on sale for $65.00! They can be bought
inH102 in the morning before 8:15 a.m. or at lunch on Tuesdays and
Thursdays. Prices will go up one more time before the end of the year
so get them now! We are also soliciting advertisements for the
2004/2005 yearbook, ads are $60.00 ¼ page, $100 ½ page, $200 full page.
