Student Daily Bulletin
February 24, 2005

Administration

1.  BSEP Applications are here.  See Belinda Mc Daniel in the Admin office.

2.  Open House is Thursday, February 24th.  If you would like a table for
your club, please leave a note in Mrs. McKnight-Johnson's in C400 or speak
to your club commissioner Noah Fine Nathel today.

4.  We have found several calculators in the College/Career Center.  Come
by to identify yours if you have lost one.

5.  The Berkeley High School Site Council will meet on Monday, February
28, 2005 from 4:30 pm to 6 pm in the school library.  All representatives
and alternates should attend, and anyone interested is welcome.  For more

6.  Bart ticket orders will be taken on February 24-28 for March at
lunchtime only in room D148.  Ticket orders prices are $16.00 for $32.00
value ticket.

7.  Students please pick - up your February Bart-tickets if you have not
done so.

8.  Mr. Wilson would like several Math TAs (teaching assistants) periods
1, 3, 4.  TO apply please bring your proctor sign up form fro the
counseling department to G201.

9.  ATTN: BHS Teachers - Have you scheduled a classroom presentation on
Teen Dating Violence Prevention or Sexual Harassment Education?  Don't
worry your still have time.  We have dates available in March, April and
May.  Call Shannon Banks (510) 644-6928.

Clubs
1.  The Berkeley High Snowboard Club is planning a trip to Sugar Bowl for
March 12th.  No experience is necessary.  Just come and have fun.  Come to
room C233 anytime to pick up trip forms and info.  Official club meetings
are every Wednesday at lunch in room C233.

2.  Feeling down lately?  Learn how to beat the blues!  Come learn more
about depression and ways to be happier and less stressed!  First meeting
starts Friday, February 25th at lunchtime in room C213.  Lunch will be
provided.

3.  Today BSU is hosting a Socratic seminar during 4th, 5th and 6th
periods in room G210.  Come with your opinions and different topics that
you would like to talk about.  You must have a permission slip or come
with a class in order to participate.

4.  Berkeley High's Black Student Union is hosting a Black Film Festival
on Friday in the Little Theater.  You must have a permission slip.  This
is an all day event.

Sports
1.  Friday, the boys basketball team will play El Cerrito.  JV begins at
5:30 V begins 7:00.  Come cheer on your basketball teams.  Both Girls and
Boys will head to NCS Tournament play following the league season. Student
prices are $1.00 with ID.  Go Jackets!

2.  Badminton practice will resume on Monday at 6:30 am


Senior/Junior Section
1.  College visits:
March 1, 2005, Academy of Art University will be here at 10:35  (The
representative will speak about undergraduate programs as well as summer
programs for high school students.

2.  College Admission 101 - Free workshop on the college admissions
process and SAT preparation, Saturday, February 26, 9 am to noon.  at
Classroom Matters, 2607 7th street suite E, Berkeley.  Space is limited.
Call 540-8646 for more information.

3.  Berkeley Fire Department Youth Academy. All students ages 14-19 are
eligible to participate in this 6 week Youth Academy, held on Saturday
mornings from 9 am to noon.  Applications are available at the Berkeley at
the Berkeley Fire Department Administrative Office, 211 MLK Jr Way on the
2nd Floor.  Deadline:  March 18th, for more information contact Dory
Ehrlich at 981-5506.

4.  Attn: Students A new section is established in the College Career
Center.  This section is devoted to Historically Black Colleges and
Universities.  It has all the applications, brochures, and information you
will need to be on your way to higher education at an HBCU.  Come check it
out.

Events/Performances
1.  BHS students survey are being taken in room D148 at lunchtime on
Tuesday for students to let AC Transit know that they are interested in
reduced or free AC bus passes during school hours.  This campaign, if
successful can lead to reduced fare or free AC passes for youth.

Sales
1.  Yearbooks are currently on sale for  $65.00!  They can be purchased in
H102 in the morning before 8:15 am or at lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Prices will go up one more time before the end of the year so get them
now!  We are also soliciting advertisements for the 2004/2005 yearbook,
ads are $60.00 for a  1/4 page, $100 for a 1/2 page, and $200 for a full
page.
