STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN
February 15, 2005


Administration

1.	REMINDER:  NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 21  - PRESIDENT'S HOLIDAY.

2.	Writer’s Cafe is open in H102 at lunchtime Wednesday and Thursdays 
from 11:35 a.m. – 12:15p.m.  We offer one -to -one coaching to help you 
complete your writing assignments.  We can help you brainstorm ideas, 
organize your material, or refine your rough draft.  Come and see us 
today.  Snacks are included.

3.	The student ID camera has been repaired.  We will be taking ID‘s in 
the Counseling department at lunchtime on Wednesday and Thursday. The 
fee
for replacement ID’s is $5.00.  Please pay Bobbye Reed in the 
Registrar’s office (D173) before coming to the counseling department.

4.	Wanted:  Quitters!  If you want to quit smoking before it becomes a 
life long addiction leading to disease and premature death then join 
the
KICK-IT class.  The class starts, Tuesday, February 15th during 1st 
period in the Admin office, conference room B.  6 weeks/ 6 sessions – 
rotating class periods.  Get a pass from class and just show up.  
Snacks provided. Questions?  Call Tricia @ 644-8987.

5.	Great opportunity:  Proctors needed second semester for periods 4 
and 5 to accompany a student to the YMCA.  Please contact Tamar Chaet 
in room H106. (ASAP).

6.	Mr. Willson would like several Math TA’s (Teaching Assistants) for 
periods 1, 3, 4.  To apply please bring your proctor sign-up form from 
the counseling department to G201.

7.	Job Opening: Student needed to do light clerical work.  Contact 
Debbie Taylor at [<Debbie at greatparents.net>;  $8per hour.

Clubs
1.	Black Student Union will meet on Thursday, February 17th at lunch in 
H214.

2.	Feeling down lately?  Learn how to beat the blues!  Come learn more 
about depression and ways to be happier and less stressed!  First 
meeting starts Friday, February 25th at lunchtime in room C213.  Lunch 
will be provided.

3.	Please come in for some fun in Jeopardy format: Quiz Bowl practice 
on February 16th at lunch in C316.

4.	For those who signed up for the Costa Rica field trip --and those 
who are interested--there will be a lunch time meeting this Thursday in 
G307.

Sports
1.	Congratulations to the Girls Soccer team on their first place finish 
in the ACCAL.  They host California High on the BHS turf in the first 
round of the NCS #A playoffs on Wednesday at 7:00.  Ticket prices are 
$5 for students and $8 for adults.  Unfortunately, no passes are 
accepted.  Come on out and support our girls this Wednesday!!

Senior / Junior Section
1.	College visits:
February 15, 2005
  9:30 am        Western Career College and Silicon Valley College

March 1, 2005
10:35 am              Academy of Art University
  (The representative will speak about undergraduate programs as well as 
summer programs for high school students)


2.	Seniors: The representative from SF State will be in D221 on 
Wednesday, February 16 at lunch time.  Please stop by see her if you 
have questions.
If you still need to turn in your official transcript, you can give it 
to her at that time.

3.	For Juniors, Saturday, February 19, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm – University 
of San Francisco Multicultural Junior Preview Day for African American,
Latino and Native American high school juniors.  You must have a 
minimum GPA of 2.75 to participate.  Presentations on academics, 
majors, and
eligibility requirements, campus tour, meetings with admissions 
counselors,etc.  Space is limited to 50 students.  Applications 
available in the College Center.  Free.  Application deadline: February 
9.


Events/ Performance
1.	Come join the Modern Renaissance!  Enrollment is open for California 
Quintessential Knighthood Training programs.  Learn the combat skills 
and
creative arts of the modern knighthood.  Appropriate for the 
adventurous 15-21 year olds.  Come check us out at

takes place this summer in Mendocino County

2.	ITPs. -- Independent Theater Projects-- in its 10th year of 
production presents three One Acts independently produced by BHS 
students this February 18, and
19 at 8:00 pm at the Hillside Club,  2286 Cedar St. (between Oxford and 
Euclid) in Berkeley.  Students $5, Adults $10.

Sales

1.	Hey BHS students!  Looking for a fun thing to do on Valentine’s Day? 
Well, you should come to the Building with Books club Valentine’s Day 
Bake
Sale!  We have heart shaped cookies, brownies and cake! And Roses!  
Come to the courtyard at lunchtime on Valentine’s Day!  See you there!

2.	Yearbooks are on sale for $65.00 in H102 every Tuesday and Thursday 
during lunch or zero period.
