BPEF/BUSD Public Education Forums Monday, January 31, 7PM

The Berkeley Public Education Foundation is sponsoring a series of public
forums as a part of the Berkeley Unified School District planning process.
The second of the series will take place Monday, January 31, in the Berkeley
High School Library (BHS Administration building, corner of Milvia & Allston
Way, on the 2nd floor):

Monday January 31, 2005 - 7PM
Berkeley High School Library
"Approaches to Adequacy"
Professor David Conley, University of Oregon

How various states have approached the question of determining how much it
costs to educate students to the standards of a high-quality education. What
does a school need to have in terms of staffing, to deliver that education?
Conley is one of the nation's foremost experts in this area, and has worked
with several states, including Oregon and Hawaii, on these issues.

These forums are an important part of the district-wide planning process.
Superintendent Lawrence encourages the community to take advantage of this
opportunity to attend and participate in all of the forums. All of the
speakers in the series have been specifically selected for their particular
expertise.

Watch the BUSD website where you can keep up to date on the planning process
and keep informed about the scheduled forums: www.berkeley.k12.ca.us
