STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
1. Remember new teachers and staff: BSEP proposals are due today! Please
submit them to Belinda McDaniel by 3:00 pm.
2. If you have been thinking about going on the summer Costa Rican
science field trip, there are six openings left. These spaces are on a
first come basis so get your application in right away. If you have
questions, please see Mr. Crosby in G307.
3. All cash collected at Berkeley High School by organizations, groups,
or clubs etc. must be turned in to the student body accountant in the "D"
building. Due to the district budget cuts, effective January 2005 there
will be a 12% administrative fee on all monies deposited into the student
body account. This is to pay the cost of the book keeper. If you have
questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Ms. Bennett or Jim Slemp.
4. Needed: two hermit crabs! The students in Ms. Rasiah's video class
needs them for an upcoming film. Please stop by G108B and ask Mrs. Rasiah
for details. This is no joke. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
5. PSAT scores are back! Come to the College/ Career center to see your
scores.
Clubs
1. All BHS clubs: if you want your club in the yearbook. Come to H102
at zero period. You can get a quarter-page free, half page for $50 and a
full page for $100.
2. Are you an aspiring Table Tennis player looking for competition? Are
you a casual ping pong player looking to have some fun? Come to the BHS
Table Tennis club today at lunch on the upper floor of the old gym. Anyone
interested is encouraged to attend.
3. Internship for creating professional website. Work with Fortune 500
web designer. See Mr. Fritz or email <fritz at norcalmtb.org>.
4. Come to the "Building with Books" meeting today at lunch in G212!
5. It's a new year and a new start to the Cooking Club. Come to the
informational meeting January 10th in H106 to discuss new recipes, meet new
friends and have fun in the new year!
Sports
1. Come watch our various teams perform. Call 644-8723 for the schedules
of events!
2. Attention Men's Tennis Players: get your physical exam done now
before the spring rush. Go to the Health Center to make an appointment.
Players must have physicals before tryouts, which will begin February 7.
Details to come-- work on your backhand in the meantime.
3. Attention all boys interested in joining the BHS Golf team:
informational meeting and signups to be held at 3:45 on Wednesday 1/12 in
M202 on the second floor of the Old Gym.
4. Attention all girls interested in playing softball for Berkeley high:
informational meeting and signups to be held on the BHS Visitor's turf
bleachers on Friday, January 7th at 3:45 p.m.
5. If you're interested in being on the Badminton team this year, come to
D219 at lunch on Wednesday. This is mandatory!
Senior Section
1. Presentations in the College Center:
Wednesday, January 5, lunchtime
A BHS graduate will speak about her experiences at Brown University. This
is a great opportunity to hear exactly what the college experiences like and
ask all your questions. This presentation is open to all students.
Thursday, January 6, 10:35 am
A BHS graduate will speak about her experiences at Tufts University. Come
get your questions answered.
2. January 17 is the deadline to turn in Midyear School Report Forms to
the College Center. This is required for most schools that requested a
counselor recommendation. It is not required for the UC's and most Cal
campuses. Paperclip a regular business-sized envelope with one stamp on
it to the college Mid-Year Report form and a transcript request form.
Write "Midyear Report" on the top of each Transcript Request Form.
3. What's up with College: A Reality Check.
Come hear the true story about going to college. Recent Berkeley High
Graduates will be here January 6th at 7pm in the College and Career Center
to tell their personal stories about their college experiences. There will
be an informal discussion with students from a wide range of schools, large
and small, near and far. Mark your calendar for January 6, the first week
after winter break. This should be a lively and informative evening. The
event is open to all students and sponsored by Academic Choice.
4. Hey Seniors! All senior pages are due Friday, January 7th. So be sure
to stop by H102 everyday during zero period or Tuesday and Thursday during
7th period to purchase your page.
Events/ Performance
1. St. Luke Missionary Church invites you to a Youth Gospel Musical.
Friday, January 14th at 7:00 pm at 165 South 7th St, Richmond, CA 94801.
2. Black and White (Semi-Formal) Winter Ball on January 28th at Zazoo's
Restaurant (15 Embarcadero West, Oakland). Winter Ball tickets are on sale
for $25 at lunch in the Community Theater box office on Tuesday, Thursday
and Friday.
Sales
1. Yearbooks are on sale for $65.00 every Tuesday and Thursday during
lunch or zero period to purchase your book.
