This year, a number of people have made the assumption that it is the
Attendance Office which marks students absent or tardy. The Berkeley High
School Attendance Office does NOT mark students Absent or Tardy. Teachers
mark the absences and tardies on scantrons. The Attendance Office records
the absences. It is also NOT the Attendance Office which lowers student
grades for unexcused absences or excessive tardies. Teachers are the ones
who lower grades as warranted.

If your child has been marked absent or tardy erroneously, please contact
your child's teachers. All teachers can be reached through email. Most
teachers email addresses are Firstname_Lastname at Berkeley.k12.ca.us .
Occasionally a teacher's address is first initial last
name at berkeley.k12.ca.us If you have trouble finding a teacher's email
address, you may call the school office at 644-6121.

If your concerns are not resolved after speaking with your child's teacher
please contact Assistant Principal Rory Bled
email:(rory_bled at berkeley.k12.ca.us) Phone: (510) 644-4566

Absences are considered unexcused if they have not been cleared in three
days. To clear an absence, please call the Attendance Office at 644-6209.
