Administration
1. If you have not taken the California High School Exit Exam-- or if
you have taken it but did not pass-- please make sure to report to the
Jacket Gym at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 16 (English sections) and/or
Wednesday, November 17th (Math sections). You must pass this exam in order
to receive a BHS diploma! If you have any questions, please see Rory Bled,
Vice-Principal.
2. Remember: Cody's Books School Benefit Daze: Monday, November 15,
2004. 25% of your purchases at Cody's during this four-day event will be
donated to Berkeley High School to purchase books for the BHS Library. Just
save your receipts, and mail to: Julie Wong at 1311 Santa Fe Avenue,
Berkeley, CA 94702. For questions you can also call her at 510-528-8191.
Two store locations: Telegraph and Fourth Street.
3. Juniors and Seniors: There is a youth leadership and local government
free seminar sponsored by the County of Alameda to expose students to
various aspects of local government functions. Including crime lab, budget
allocations, community planning, voting and elections and much more.
Members of Forensics Club and the National Youth Rights Association are
encouraged to apply. See Ms. McKnight-Johnson for more information. The
event is scheduled for November 20th.
4. Important! All students who need to take an ID picture please report
to the Counseling Center at these dates and times:
Wednesday
8:00- 8:30 am
11:30-12:15 pm (lunch)
Thursday
11:30-12:15 pm (lunch)
5. Attention all Freshmen interested in being Freshmen Leadership
officers! Pick up applications from Mrs. McKnight-Johnson room in C400.
Applications are due November 29th.
6. REMINDER: If you are applying to a private school, your Secondary
School Report Forms (sometimes called Counselor Recommendation Forms)
included with each college's application), transcript request forms, and
envelopes are due on Wednesday, November 10 in the College/Career Center.
Clubs
1. Reminder: Knitting and Needlework Club meets Mondays after 6th period
in the library. We have lots of new yarn and needles. Come learn how to
knit in time to make gifts for the holidays.
2. The Snowboard Club is having a bake sale today at lunch. Come to the
Senior steps and support the snowboard club!
Sports
Congratulations to Berkeley High Girls Volleyball 2004 ACCAL Champions
(League record: 14-0). Berkeley plays Amador Valley High School on Tuesday,
Nov 16th at 7:00 p.m. (at Amador) in the first round of NCS playoffs. Go
Jackets!

1. Scholarship Opportunity for Senios: Don H. Splawn Scholarship, which
is open to financially disadvantaged seniors who demonstrate significant
dedication to their school, family and community for use at an educational
or vocational institution. $1,000 scholarship. Deadline: November 22.
Applications available in the College/Career Center.
2. Senior reminder! Please pick up your early graduation petition forms.
(Registrar's office or the Counseling Center). Make sure they are
completely filled out, by the counselor and your parent. They are due back
at the Registrar's office by December 10th.

Sales
1. Make sure you buy a yearbook. The price is still $60. They will go
up soon.
2. Come join the Black Student Union for a bake sale on the Senior Steps
at lunch on Friday, November 19th. All proceeds will go toward funds for
the Black College tour. Cookies, cupcakes, candy and more.
