"Straight Face" contest, you have to remain stolid even in the face of the
most hilarious distractions.

SAT/ACT TEST DATES: - Friday, October 29 is the regular registration
deadline for the December 4 SAT I and II tests.  Friday, November 5 is the
regular registration deadline for the
December 11 ACT test.  These are the last recommended tests for the UC¹s and
Cal States.

WRITING COMPETITION ­ Bennington College Young Writers Awards for fiction,
poetry and plays.  Entry forms available in the College Center or at
www.bennington.edu under News & Events.  Deadline:  December 1.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Gates Millennium Scholarship ­ This scholarship covers the cost of
attendance of an undergraduate education.  Students are eligible if they are
African American, American Indian, Asian Pacific Islander American or
Hispanic American, are a citizen or permanent resident, have a GPA of 3.3 or
above, have demonstrated leadership abilities and are low income.
Applications are available in the College Center or at www.gmsp.org.
Deadline ­ January 14, 2005.

need to send your SAT scores to each one.  Instead, use the code 3594
(CSUMentor) and your scores will go to all of the CSU campuses.

ESSAY READERS ­ Essay readers will be here every day this week at 8:00 a.m.,

UC/CSU Application Workshops: All workshops will be in the library computer
lab. You must sign up in advance in D221 as there are a limited number of
computers available.  The schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, October 27, 7:30 a.m.
More in November, but don¹t wait until the last minute!

To attend the workshops, you must have a Berkeley High user name and
password. If you have not signed into the BHS computer system this year with
your user name and password, come to D221 for more information at least two
days before the workshop.
