4. This Saturday, October 16, "THE HOUSE WE LIVE IN" RACE the power of an
illusion. A thing called RACE is the fabric that binds us together. The
threads of this fabric are woven into the very fiber of our being. The
House We Live In is a
documentary challenging one of our most fundamental beliefs: tahat human
beings come divided into a few distinct groups. It is an eye-opening tale
of how what we asume to be normal, commonsense, even scientific, is actually
shaped by our history, social institutions and cultural beliefs. Dr. Barrie
Throne, PhD Sociology and Women's Studies Department at UCB will
facilitate a discussion following the video screening.
The screening will be held at the Berkeley High School College Career Center
2nd Flr at 1980 Allston Way (corner Milvia St and Allston Way) from
10:00am - 12:00 noon. It is free and all are welcome. Refreshements.
