STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
1.	The PSAT will be given this Saturday, October 16th.  Report to the 
garden between the C building and the Donahue Gym at 8 am for your room 
assignment.  Remember to bring your photo ID, a calculator and several 
number 2 pencils.  Parking around BHS may be limited because there are 
lots of alumni activities at the University this weekend in connection 
with the Cal football game.  We recommend coming on public 
transportation.

2.	Did you know that 1 out of 3 high school relationships includes some 
form of abuse!  October is National Domestic Violence Awareness month.  
Join in the effort to educate and stop relationship violence by
participating in the various activities to observe the month.  
Activities each Wednesday at lunchtime at the Community Theater steps.

3.	Will you be 18 years old by Election day, November 2?  The Berkeley 
High School Library and the American Library Association urge you to 
exercise your citizen rights and be a part of democracy in action.  
Come to the BHS Library in D226 to pick up a bookmark with information 
about registering to vote online, Do it now!  The deadline to register 
is October 15.  We have an election souvenir for first four people who 
ask.
	
Clubs
1.	Invitation to all BHS women:  “Speak on it” is back this year.  Come 
to a space that is safe and allows you to speak on the topics that 
interest you.  Light lunch served.  All young women of BHS welcome 
Thursdays at
lunch in Conference Room B.  For more information call Shannon Banks at 
644-6928.

2.	Gay- Straight Alliance meeting at lunchtime in Wednesday in H208.

3.	Earphone English meeting on Friday in C116 during the first half of 
lunch.  Come chat and check out the new audiobooks.

4.	Opera Club!  Last one of the season.  Tosca, October 19, tickets 
$30. See Mr. Ayers to reserve a ticket in C327.

5.	CSF forms are now available in the college career center!  If you 
are new to the program, please come to an informational meeting at 
lunch on October 18th.

6.	Hey Best Buddies at BHS!  We are having our real "Meet-your-Buddy" 
meeting on Thursday, October 14th at lunch in H102.  Come and get to 
know your buddy.

7.	 All Asian Pacific Islander Committee members report to C327 to 
discuss events.  Meetings are on Thursday team leaders.

Sports
1.	Attention all students:  Have you ever wanted to get in shape, join 
a sport or feel in control of your body, then the Wrestling team might 
be for you.  There will be an informational meeting Wednesday the 13th 
at
lunch in G210.  All shapes and sizes are welcome.  This is for both 
women and men’s teams.

Senior Section
1. Seniors: if you will be 18 by February 3, register to vote now!  
Pick up registration form at the BHS Main office.

2.  Senior Packets go on sell today at lunchtime and everyday until 
Friday.  Come to the senior steps each day at lunch.  Packets are $25.  
Cash only.

3.  Seniors interested in earning $80.00?  What about the upcoming 
Presidential Election.  If so, please come to C406 and sign up to be a 
poll worker in your voting precinct.  See Mrs. McKnight-Johnson right 
away.

Events/ Performance
1.	Homecoming is coming: October 22, 2004!  Wear Red and Gold and show 
your school spirit, safely.  Remember, in order to attend or 
participate in the rally or to enter the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, 
October 23rd, you must have an Activities Contract signed by you and 
your parents on file with Ms. McKnight-Johnson.

2.	Homecoming is here!  Spirit week is October 18 – 22nd

Wednesday: Wacky Tacky Day
Thursday: 80’s Day: Seniors / Uniform Day: underclassmen
Friday: Red and Gold Day – Rally Day

Sales
1.	Asian Pacific Islander committee bake sale on Friday.  Come to the 
courtyard and have some yummy treats.
