SPECIAL AFTERNOON PROGRAM FOR TEACHERS & PARENTS: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9
Many thousands of books are published every year, for babies and toddlers,
for kids in elementary school, for pre-teens and teens, readers and
non-readers alike. And scores of old gems are being re-published for new
readers every year. Plus there’s all that’s published for adult readers (a
fair amount of which is quite often great for teens). How can you possibly
decide amongst all the possibly terrific books for your kids whether they’re
at school or at home? What’s good? What’s not? Where are the hidden
treasures? Why do some books work well for most younger readers and why do
some fall flat? Bring your questions, comments and opinions to a
wide-ranging discussion featuring four of our favorite highly opinionated
friends and writers:

Berkeley High teachers RICK AYERS and AMY CRAWFORD, authors of the new GREAT
BOOKS FOR HIGH SCHOOL KIDS, and

VALERIE LEWIS and WALTER MAYES, authors of VALERIE & WALTER’S BEST BOOKS FOR
CHILDREN: A LIVELY, OPINIONATED GUIDE (2nd edition).

Refreshments will be served, books and posters and other complimentary
materials for teachers will be available, and we guarantee you will not be
bored and that you’ll leave with some very fresh ideas and wild enthusiasm!
Complimentary reservations by October 6, please: events at codysbooks.com.
