College Advisor's Bulletin
Wednesday, September 22, 2004
SAT WORD OF THE DAY: OBLIGATORY necessary, required, expected. Since
Susie had a difficult time learning foreign languages, she would never have
taken a third year of Spanish if her school had not made it obligatory.
SENIOR SECTION
Some California State University (CSU) campuses will accept all students who
have met the minimum entrance requirements. Other campuses do not accept
all CSU eligible students. These campuses are called impacted. The
impacted CSU campuses are: Chico, Fullerton, Long Beach, Cal Poly Pomona,
San Diego State, San Marcos, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and Sonoma State.
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Sonoma State strongly encourage applicants to
take the October or November SAT or ACT. I encourage students who are
applying to impacted campuses to also apply to at least one non-impacted
campus. In addition, some majors at non-impacted campuses are impacted,
meaning that more students apply to that major than there is space for.
