SAT WORD OF THE DAY: ACCESSIBLE - Able to be reached, able to be understood.
Although the College Advisor is responsible to help over 600 seniors, she
tries to be accessible to all by having drop in hours every day.

Ms. Abrams will be away from school from September 8-10.  If you need to see
her, please stop by at lunch or after school today.

Bowdoin College ­ Seniors, if you are interested in Bowdoin, there will be a
reception for students and their parents on Tuesday, September 21, at 7:00
p.m. at the home of Lynn and Edward Poole, 2737 Vallejo St., San Francisco.

SCHOLARSHIPS ­ KRON 4 Students Rising Above Scholarship.  This scholarship
is for seniors who have a GPA of 3.0 or above, have overcome obstacles not
of their own making, are low income, are committed to earning a college
degree and have been recommended by a teacher or counselor.  Applications
are available at the College/Career Center or at
<www.studentsrisingabove.org>.  Applications must be received by KRON by
October 15th. 

 

REPEAT SECTION

SENIORS:  I will be speaking to your English classes beginning on September
13th and setting up individual appointments the following week.  Until then,
you may stop by at lunch or after school to get your questions answered.

UPCOMING COLLEGE VISITS -- SIGN UP IN THE COLLEGE CENTER

REMINDER:  If you are applying to private colleges which need a counselor
recommendation, your Senior Profiles are due on September 10th if you are
applying Early Decision or Early Action and September 24th for Regular
Decision.  You do NOT need to fill these out if you are applying only to the
UC¹s or Cal State Universities.

UPCOMING WORKSHOPS IN THE COLLEGE CENTER:
Early Decision/Early Action ­ Tuesday, September 14, 3:30 p.m.; Wednesday,
September 15, 7:30 a.m.; Monday, September 27, 3:30 p.m.  The workshops last
for about an hour. 

SENIOR PARENT NIGHT ­ Monday, September 20, 6:30 p.m. in the College/Career
Center, D221.  

SAT/ACT TEST DATES ­ TODAY, Tuesday, September 7 is the regular registration
deadline for the October 9 SAT I and SAT II tests.  Saturday, September 17
is the regular registration deadline for the October 23 ACT test.  IMPORTANT
NOTE ­Cal State Fullerton, Sonoma and San Diego State and campuses recommend
completion of the SAT by October.

FOR JUNIORS AND SENIORS ­ Saturday, October 2, College Information Day at UC
Berkeley, Wheeler Hall, 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Workshops in English and

FREE SAT Prep for the new SAT (for the class of 2006 and beyond) will be
held at Berkeley High beginning September 22nd every Wednesday and Thursday
