Administration

1.    The Library will be closed Friday, May 14, for testing.

2.    The 8th annual Jazz on the 4th Street Jazz Festival will take place
Sunday, May 16th.  Berkeley High Jazz Combos start their warm up at 11:15
and the BHS jazz Ensemble plays at 4:00 p.m.  Great music and good food!

3.    Today: Michael Eric Dyson, author, is appearing at Cody’s Bookstore on
Telegraph Ave. in Berkeley at 7:30 pm.

4.    Boys Soccer Banquet: A special awards banquet is being held to
celebrate the boy's soccer program and their achievements.  The banquet is
taking place on Tuesday, May 11th, from 6-8:30 pm. In the Great Hall at
the Faculty Club on the UC Berkeley campus.  A limited number tickets are
now available at $20 for BHS players/students and $25 for parents and
adults.  To reserve your place please leave a message for Jack Wagoner at
375-1807.

5.    Juniors: If you would like to be one of the MC's at the Senior Awards
Ceremony on May 25th, sign up in the College/Career Center.

6.    JUNIORS -FREE SUMMER TEST PREP- People's Test Preparation Service.
Session I - Mon/Wed, 2-6pm. beginning June 28;
Session II - Tuesday/Thursday, 2-6pm. beginning June 29th.
All classes held at UC Berkeley.  Call 510-642-4951 and leave a message
including your name, grade, high school, phone number and session
preference. You can email summerptps at yahoo.com to register.

7.    AP Exams are May 3-14.  Don’t forget to bring #2 pencils, a pen, and
the correct calculator to your tests!  Next week’s exams are:
Tuesday, May 11
Chemistry, 7:15 outside A building
Friday, May 14, 
Spanish Literature, 7:45 outside new library
Latin, 12:40 outside new library

If you left your calculator at the AP Calculus test, it's in A101.

8.    Students- Do you have a band?  Would you like to perform? Please sign
your band up to perform at BHS in the administration office.

Clubs
1.    Culture and Exchange Club: Important meeting today at lunch in room
C316.  Don't forget to get permission slips back to me for May 14th -
Ropes Course in La Honda.  See Mr. Berkman in C107 or C316 for details.

2.    Attention CSF members!  Turn in all late tutoring and registration
forms in the SLC by Friday, May 14th.  Absolutely no late forms will be
accepted after Friday, May 14th.

Sports 
1.  Swimmers and Divers come to a meeting at lunch at the New Pool, on
Wednesday the 12th.  We will be voting for MVPs, MIPs, and ordering
T-Shirt and sweatshirts.  This will be your only chance.  Come!

Senior Section
1.    UC Riverside has a Guaranteed Acceptance Program (GAP).  If you have a
minimum 3.5 UC grade point average (10th and 11th grade classes in UC
approved courses) and a minimum SAT score of 1000 or ACT of 22, you are
eligible for the program.  The applications are in the College Center.

2.    SENIOR AWARDS ASSEMBLY: Participate in the Awards Assembly to be held
on Tuesday, May 25th at 7:00 pm.  Pick up a form in the College/ Career
Center to let us know about the honors and scholarships you have received.
Deadline: May 11.

3.    AUDITIONS:  Want to perform at the 2004 BHS graduation?  This year,
the ceremony will showcase many talented BHS seniors.  Sign up to speak, or
perform in the administration office.  Auditions will be held on May 13th.

Events/ Performance
1.    10th Annual Career Fair: Thursday, May 13, 2004: 9 am to 12 noon at
the Berkeley Adult School.  Please call 644-8968 for more information.  Meet
employers, get job leads, and obtain employment information.

Sales
1.    Senior Prom tickets on sale everyday for $60.  Prices go up $5 every
week so buy your tickets today!  Last day of sales is Friday, May 28th -
NO Later!  Remember you must turn in your contracts and library books to
attend prom!
