BUSD Board Updates from the meeting of May 5 of interest to Berkeley High
School:


1. Resolution for Expanded, Multi-purpose Playing Field on the Derby Street
Property
The Board voted to approve a resolution declaring
their support for pursuing the development of a
large multi-purpose athletic facility at East Campus
that would include a regulation sized baseball field.

2.Discussion and Direction for a Tax Measure (BSEP)
The Board discussed the possibility of a Bridge
Measure to generate additional tax revenue of $6.5
million to $8 million to restore or enhance programs
effected by the poor state economy.  The Bridge
Measure would give the District the time needed to
develop a strategic plan over the next 18 months
so that implementation of it could coincide with the
current special tax in November, 2006.  More details

3. Presentation Regarding CAS Progress Reportand Future Course of Action
The Board received the annual presentation/update
on the progress of small school Communication Arts
and Sciences (CAS), and its action plan for the
upcoming years.
