STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
1.      The Health Center will be closed on Thursday, May 6th and 
Friday, May7th.  All of our staff will be attending the annual 
Adolescent Health Conference on those days.  Students: make sure you 
come in earlier that week for all your Health Center needs.

2.      Tuesday, May 12, 12:20 pm - A representative of Diablo Valley 
College will be in the College/Career Center to talk with you about the 
campus and signing up for classes.  Sign up in advance in the College/ 
Career Center.

3.      The poetry and performance after-school workshop begins today, 
April 27th from 4-6pm in C230 and runs for 10 weeks.  Led by Youth 
Speaks mentor, Jamie Kennedy.

4.      The April School Site Council meeting will be Tuesday, April 
27, from 4:30 – 6:00 pm in D219.  On the agenda will be the action 
items for next year's site plan, to be forwarded to Shared governance, 
and a discussion with the facilitator about a new school governance 
plan for next year.  All members should attend, and anyone interested 
is welcome.

5.      Student Bands!!!!!  Any bands (BHS students only) that are 
interested in performing at BHS during lunch, please sign your band up 
in the Administration office with Belinda McDaniel.  More details and 
information to come.

6.      The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising will be here 
Friday, April 30th periods 2-6.  Each period will be a different 
presentation:
-Period 2: The Psychological Impressions of Dress
-Period 3: Marketing Yourself in the Electronic Age
-Period 4: The Business of Fashion
-Period 5: Discovering Your Creative Abilities
Please  let us know how many are attending each presentation as room 
capacity is 136.  Permission slips can be picked up from Catherine 
Brady in H113.

7.      Attention students:  If you are attending the Jr. Prom, you 
must have the following things: Picture ID and a signed contract. 
Contract must be turned in no later than Wednesday, 4/28/04.  If you 
need a paper picture ID you may get one Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday 
from Ms. Cooks in Counseling.  No paper ID's will be printed after 
Wednesday.

8. College Faire and Presentations:
Tuesday, April 27, 10:35 am: Representatives from Union College and 
Hobart and William Smith College will make a presentation about their 
schools and private colleges in general in D221.  Sign up in D221.

Saturday, May 1, 1:00 to 3:00 pm East Bay College Fair at Cal State
Hayward.  Information including a list of colleges attending is 
available in the College/Career Center (D221).

Saturday, May 8, 1:00 - 4:30 pm: East Bay College Connection Fair at 
St. Mary's College.  Free shuttles from Orinda BART station to the 
fair. More information, including the list, is also available at
http://www.stmarys-ca.edu/ebcc


Clubs
1.      Do you act?  Do you want to star in a movie?  Come audition for 
an action comedy on Wednesday at lunch in Room A203.

2.      Xicano/Latino Seniors:  Come to our meeting on Thursday in Mrs. 
Taylor's room during lunch to plan our next fundraiser.

3.      Culture and Exchange Club Members: Important meeting on 
Thursday, April 29, during period 1.  If you plan to go on the 
end-of-year field trip to the Ropes Course, you must attend.  See Mr. 
Berkman in C316 or C107 for permission slips.

4.      All Best Buddies members come to a picnic in the park across 
the street from Berkeley High from 11:30 to 3:00 p.m. on Friday 
(4/30/04).  Pick up a permission slip from G105 if you will be missing 
class.

5.      The BHS Mountain Bike team is nearing the end of its sixth 
season.  We'd like to invite Berkeley Unified staff to the State 
Championship event on Sunday, May 2nd, in beautiful Walker Creek Ranch 
(near Tomales Bay in West Marin). The competition is tough but Berkeley 
High has a good shot at winning the state championships.

Sports
1.      There is an informational meeting for all new players wanting 
to play Field Hockey next fall.  Meet on the track at lunch on 
Wednesday the 28th.

Senior Section
1.      SENIOR AWARDS ASSEMBLY: Participate in the Awards Assembly to 
be held on Tuesday, May 25th at 7:00 pm  Pick up a form in the 
College/Career Center to let us know about the honors and scholarships 
you have received. Deadline: May 11.

2.      AUDITIONS:  Want to perform at the 2004 BHS graduation?  This 
year, the ceremony will showcase many talented BHS seniors.  Sign up to 
speak or perform in the administration office.  Auditions will be held 
on May 13th.

Events/ Performance
1.      The Spring Dance, "Paradise at Night," is on!  The dance will 
be Friday, May 7th @ 7:30 pm in the brand new BHS student Union.  
Tickets are on sale everyday at the community Theatre Box office@ 
lunch.  BHS students only.  Must have ID.  Tickets are $7.00.

2.      Speak out at the Changing School Colors Youth Forum on 
Thursday, April 29th at 3:00 pm in G210.  We will be watching school 
colors and discussing what students can do to get heard and make 
change.  Adults are welcome but this is about the youth voice!  Please 
join us!

3.      The Spring Musical opens this Friday at 8:00 pm. It's the world 
premiere of "Man in the Musical" -- a heartbreaking hysterical ramp 
filled with song and dance and drama.  Check it out - Mazeltov!

Sales
1.      Juniors: Junior Prom tickets are on sale everyday at lunch in 
the Community Theatre Box office.  Tickets are $50.00 per person.  
Don’t let this event pass you by.  It will be off the hook!

2.      Attention Junior Class male students: Express Tuxedo will be 
here, Wednesday and Friday at lunch with great last minute deals for 
Junior Prom Tuxedos.  Seniors: start early rent your tux today in the 
Courtyard at lunch.
