BHS Cafeteria
Editors, Daily Planet:
A new restaurant opened in Berkeley Monday, April 12th. 400 customers showed
up. Who would think this is a bad thing?
Only the Daily Planet. After 14 years of leaving the Berkeley High School
Campus at lunch, out of necessity because there was no cafeteria, 400 brave
students tried something different, a brand new school cafeteria. But
judging from the
Daily Planet headline of April 14, "Most Ignore New BHS Cafeteria", you
would think opening a new school cafeteria was a bad move on the part of
the School District. 400 students didn't add to the flood of traffic in
downtown Berkeley. 400 students received a low cost, nutritious, healthy
lunch. And maybe, just maybe, it will catch on with more students, over
time. What a terrible situation for Berkeley High School and the City.
Anyway, so reads the Daily Planet.

Note from the Public Information Officer: The number of students signing
up for school lunches at Berkeley High is growing daily. The District is
very pleased with the success of the Food Court, and the numbers have been
consistent with our own expectations from the first day. Samples of the
Food Court pizza will be given out at the BHS Open House & Ribbon Cutting
tomorrow, Sunday April 25th. The ceremony unveiling the $37,000,000,00
new buildings will be from 1pm to 1:30 p.m., with tours and entertainment
until 5 p.m.
